12,060-Brick LEGO Architecture Sagrada Familia Announced, And Yes — It's The Biggest Set Ever

LEGO has unveiled its largest set to date, the LEGO Architecture Sagrada Familia, which features a staggering 12,060 bricks. This meticulously crafted model captures the world-renowned basilica in incredible detail. Preorders are now live in both the U.S. and the U.K., with the set set to release on November 1. Priced at $799.99 / £649.99, it is not the most expensive LEGO set — that title still belongs to the LEGO Star Wars Death Star at $999.99 — but it is the largest in terms of the number of pieces included.

The real-life Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain, is the world's largest unfinished Catholic church and has been under construction since 1882. Over 140 years later, the structure is nearly complete, with an expected finish date around 2034. That means fans of the LEGO set will complete their model eight years before the real Sagrada Familia is finished, a unique achievement in the world of LEGO building.

According to LEGO’s official description, the Sagrada Familia (21065) set offers a challenging and rewarding experience for builders and travel enthusiasts alike. The construction process mirrors the actual building of the basilica, beginning with the Apse with Crypt, the Nativity façade — the only part completed by original architect Antoni Gaudí before his death — and the Passion façade. The build continues with the naves and Western Sacristy, followed by the completion of the six towers, Eastern Sacristy, and Glory façade. Once finished, the model can be displayed with an elegant nameplate on the base.

The New LEGO Set Breaks Records

The LEGO Architecture Sagrada Familia now holds the title of the largest LEGO building set, surpassing the previous record holder, the LEGO World Map with 11,695 bricks. LEGO’s website features a top 10 list of the largest sets, now including:

  • LEGO Architecture Sagrada Familia – 12,060
  • World Map – 11,695
  • LEGO Icons Eiffel Tower – 10,001
  • LEGO Icons Titanic – 9,090
  • LEGO Colosseum – 9,036
  • LEGO Star Wars Death Star – 9,023
  • The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith – 8,278
  • UCS LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon – 7,541
  • Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise – 6,838
  • LEGO Star Wars AT-AT – 6,785
  • LEGO Star Wars The Razor Crest – 6,187

While the set is packed with pieces, it won’t be the largest in terms of physical footprint. The model stands 24 inches (62 cm) high, is 18.5 inches (47 cm) wide, and 15 inches (39 cm) deep, requiring a decent amount of space for display. Preorders are available now through LEGO’s website, with a limit of three sets per customer due to limited stock.
