A Leak Just Forced Atlus To Acknowledge The Next Persona Game

A recent leak has forced Atlus to officially confirm the existence of the next Persona game. Following the release of alleged in-development assets online, Sega, Atlus, and P-Studio have addressed the incident. According to a statement from P-Studio, the leaked content included early development footage of the upcoming Persona title, believed to be Persona 6.

P-Studio confirmed in a public statement that an unauthorized third-party gained access to their systems and downloaded confidential materials. “We recently suffered a network intrusion in which an unauthorized third-party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early development footage for the next Persona title,” the statement read. “At this time, we do not anticipate any long-term effect on the development of our ongoing projects. We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared with you all in this way. Our work on the next Persona game will continue as planned, and we remain as committed as ever to delivering an experience to you, our players, that truly exceeds your expectations. We will update everyone again soon and, of course, will properly introduce you to this next game when it is ready.”

What Was Leaked?

The leaked material first appeared on Chinese forums and the social media platform Rednote before being shared globally. Among the content were promotional images that appear to be from the upcoming Persona title. Additionally, a list of names and details about a potential new mascot were extracted from the stolen assets.

The leak has reignited anticipation among fans who have been waiting patiently for the next mainline Persona game. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the franchise, as well as the 10th anniversary of Persona 5, the game that significantly boosted the series' global appeal. Since Persona 5, the franchise has seen several developments, including an updated version of Persona 5, a remake of Persona 3, and the ongoing development of a Persona 4 remake. Spin-off games and collaborations with other titles have also kept the Persona universe alive.

The Long Wait For A New Persona Game

For longtime fans, the wait for a new Persona game has been especially long. While Atlus has released several other critically acclaimed titles, such as Metaphor ReFantazio and Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, the focus has remained on the Persona series. The upcoming game is expected to be a major release, especially since it would coincide with the 30th anniversary celebrations of the franchise. While an official reveal date has not been set, many believe that the announcement of the next Persona title would be the perfect way to conclude the anniversary events.
