I Stop Looking for 5 Seconds and Now Crimson Desert Has Pinball and a Rideable Wyvern
Crimson Desert continues its quest to be every game at once with a new update. Patch 1.10.00 is out now and, look, I'll cut to the chase: there's pinball now. Also another type of ball—"Orb Roll"—and the ability to feed a baby wyvern so much you can ride it. Videogames are alright. So. The wyvern.
Long-time Crimson Desert heads will remember that Pearl Abyss recently introduced a baby wyvern you can tame after you find and hatch its egg. Outside of being adorable, it didn't serve much purpose. He was just a little dude who would float around with you on your adventures. Well, no more. As of today's patch, you can now fatten up your scaly pal and finally put him to work. Feed him enough meat (until he reaches Level 3 growth) and, in a remarkably quick growth spurt, he'll turn into a great hulking beast that you can register as a special mount. He does get less kawaii, though, so weigh these factors in your mind before you make any unretractable commitments.
Oh, the same goes for the game's Kuku Bird Chick, too. Feed it a bunch of whatever Kuku Birds eat and you'll be able to hop on its back. This is a metaphor for capitalist reproduction, where we nurture and feed the next generation only insofar as we are able to squeeze value out of them once they reach the age of maturity.
And, yep, there's pinball now. Because why not? I guess it was a natural addition after that claw machine that made players want to die—so pretty realistic imo. Saunter over to the inn near the Deleysian Institute and you'll be able to turn Kliff into a veritable pinhead. You get tokens for playing, too, which you can swap for items at the newly added Marni Token Exchange. Those items are:
- Material Box of Fortune
- Abyss Artifact
- Two types of Artifact Chests
- A helmet
- 13 types of furniture
- Three types of gear crafting recipes
I went to the EightyTwo pinball bar in LA once and didn't even get one item of furniture, so it's a real deal.
There's also Orb Roll, which I have not played and whose name does not give much away, but you can find it at the Great Gate of Uradvah. Prizes for that one are:
- Material Box of Fortune
- Abyss Artifact
- Two types of Artifact Chests
- A golden apple
- Three types of carpets
- Three types of lights
