Critical Role's D&D-Inspired Videogame Progresses, According to Laura Bailey

Back in July of last year, Critical Role—the massive Dungeons & Dragons livestream franchise—announced it would be working with AdHoc to create its very own video game set in Exandria. The partnership wasn’t a surprise, given the studio's successful past collaboration on the popular superhero management sim Dispatch. This move was always expected, especially with the Amazon Prime series being so well-funded, but it has now transitioned from speculation to reality.

In a recent episode of Mythical Kitchen's Last Meals, Laura Bailey—known for her iconic voice work and roles in Critical Role, including Thimble, Jester Lavorre, and Vex'ahlia—shared updates on the project. Speaking with Josh Scherer, she confirmed that the game is progressing well, though she couldn't reveal much beyond that. "Things are shakin', they're movin', they're shakin', I can't say anything else other than that," Bailey said. She added, "There's a lot of work being done and a lot of talks happening, and a lot of fun things I get to look at—and I can't say anything else."

A Year into Development, Signs of Momentum

The project's progress is particularly notable considering the timeline. As reported in a Variety interview from 2025, the game was intended to be relatively modest in scale, with a development period of around two years. Now, a year into that timeline, Bailey’s comments suggest that development is gaining momentum. While this is still speculative, the fact that the project is moving forward so quickly gives fans hope for an upcoming release.

For many, the idea of a Critical Role-branded video game has been an exciting prospect. As someone who has followed the series since its debut, the thought of exploring the world of Exandria through a game is thrilling. The summer of 2026 has been a tough one for video games, but the news that this project is coming along well is a welcome addition to the landscape.

The game's development is still shrouded in secrecy, but the fact that Laura Bailey and others are actively involved—and that the project is moving forward—gives fans a lot to be excited about. As the year progresses, more details are likely to surface, and the anticipation will only grow.
