How To Find The Secret Destiny 2 Exotic Mission And Get Cull’s Shadow
Destiny 2 has received a final content update that introduces a secret Exotic mission, rewarding players with Cull’s Shadow, a powerful fusion rifle with the Soulburn trait. This unique weapon not only heals you on final blows or rapid hits with its frontal blades but also grants Soulfire Charges, which can be used to fire potent corruption rounds. These rounds deal increased damage to enemies already affected by the corruption. Plus, Cull’s Shadow is particularly effective against Unstoppable champions, making it a must-have for endgame content.
Starting the Oblation: Bloodline Mission
The Oblation: Bloodline mission is not listed in the Director, so players must actively search for it. To begin, travel to the Moon and access The Scarlet Keep strike. Complete the mission normally, but make sure to leave Hashladun, the boss, alive. Next, retrieve a Weapon of Sorrow from your Collections screen.
There are several Weapons of Sorrow to choose from, including Thorn (hand cannon), Touch of Malice (scout rifle), Necrochasm (auto rifle), and Osteo Striga (submachine gun). These weapons are created by fusing regular guns with Hive magic, and they are essential for interacting with the mission’s key elements.
Once you have your Weapon of Sorrow, locate and shoot Hive runes that spawn around the boss. You need to hit three runes, and the order doesn’t matter. After that, a gated barrier to the right of the arena will lower, revealing a Hive crystal behind it. Interact with the crystal to receive a message about a suspicious signal on the Moon, prompting you to find more of these crystals.
After finishing the Scarlet Keep strike, return to the Moon. You’ll now see multiple waypoints labeled Suspicious Syndicate. Each of these points leads to a Hive crystal, which will help you uncover more of the story behind the mission.
Archer’s Line Suspicious Signal
The first Suspicious Signal is located in Archer’s Line. You’ll find a deceased Cabal body that you can interact with. As you approach, the Soulfire Network Frequency bar in the lower right of your screen will fill up. Interacting with the body will trigger a message: "Soulfire seethes within a monarch's Shrine."
This shrine is the Shrine of Crota, and you’ll notice more glowing Cabal bodies along the path. Follow the Hall of Wisdom, drop down the platforms, and continue through the Shrine of Oryx until you reach Crota’s Shrine.
Once there, you’ll face several enemies, including a large Psion. After defeating him, more Hive runes will appear. These runes are only visible and interactable if you still have your Weapon of Sorrow equipped. Look for three specific runes on the door and find their matching counterparts around the shrine.
Shoot the runes in the correct order — from top to bottom — to open the door and reveal a Hive crystal. Interacting with it will complete the Archer’s Line Suspicious Signal and unlock the next part of the mission.
Anchor of Light Suspicious Signal
The second Suspicious Signal is located near a yellow container where the Soulfire Network Frequency is strongest. You’ll find a dead Cabal body here. Interacting with it will trigger the message: "Soulfire thrums deep within a princely Temple."
Follow the glowing Cabal bodies to the Temple of Crota. Enter the temple and drop down the platforms at the back, heading through the corridor to the caves. In the red area, you’ll encounter more enemies to defeat.
Once again, you’ll need to solve a Hive rune puzzle by shooting the runes in the correct order. Doing so will open a nearby door, allowing you to interact with the Hive crystal and complete the Anchor of Light Suspicious Signal. A message box will pop up, providing more lore about the mission.
Sorrow’s Harbor Suspicious Signal
Head to Sorrow’s Harbor and locate the dead Cabal body that is quite far back to the left, near the main entrance. Use the Soulfire Network Frequency to get closer to it. Interacting with the body will show the message: "Soulfire surges toward a Sorrowful Revelation."
This message points you to the K1 Revelation Lost Sector nearby. Ensure your Weapon of Sorrow is equipped to see the Hive runes. Solve the rune puzzle again to open the door and interact with the Hive crystal to complete the Sorrow’s Harbor Suspicious Signal.
Hellmouth Suspicious Signal
The Hellmouth signal is a bit more challenging to reach, as it’s not near any major fast travel points. The best way to get there is from Sorrow’s Harbor. The dead Cabal body is inside a building that overlooks the Hellmouth.
Interacting with the body will show the message: "Soulfire roils within the nocturnal Chamber." Continue through Hellmouth and follow the glowing green Cabal bodies to find more enemies to defeat.
Head through the Gatehouse, take a slight path to the right, and navigate through the caves. Eventually, you’ll reach the Circle of Bones, a large room filled with Cabal enemies. Defeat them and continue through the right caves leading to The World’s Grave.
Keep moving through the darkened corridors until you reach the Chamber of Night. In this area, you’ll find more Cabal enemies, and after defeating them, you’ll be one step closer to unlocking the final part of the mission.
