IGN can exclusively reveal No Gods, No Masters, an upcoming new Kaiju action 5-issue mini-series from BOOM! Studios and an Eisner-nominated creative team that includes writer Julio Anta and artist Jacoby Salcedo.

No Gods, No Masters will debut in comic shops on September 2, 2026, and the collected trade paperback will arrive in Summer 2027. As for the story, it starts on a regular afternoon in detention and becomes "something no one could have imagined."

During this detention that includes three teenagers who "would never have chosen each other for dystopian survival under normal circumstances," everything starts to shake, and the skyline before them trembles as a kaiju begins tearing its way through Manhattan.

These three teenagers will have to work together to "navigate a collapsing city, rising fear, and their own differences to stay alive. At the center of it all is Felipe, still trying to find his footing in a new city. When the chaos leaves his mother trapped in a devastated subway station, survival is no longer enough. He must go back into the danger."

“No Gods, No Masters is a book Jacoby and I have been dreaming about making for years,” said Anta in a statement. “A kaiju book with all the amazing destruction you’d expect, but one that is decidedly from the point of view of working-class teenagers just trying to survive. This is one part The Walking Dead, one part Paper Girls, and ALL KAIJU.”

“I literally can’t wait for readers to read No Gods, No Masters! This story comes from our shared love of Kaiju, plus our own take on the genre,” said Salcedo. “Also to have Francesco Segala on colors has taken this book to a whole other level! Y’all better get ready for some bloody violence, destruction, and of course... KAIJU!”

Anta's previous work includes Frontera, Speak Up, Santiago!, Home, and various projects at Marvel and DC Comics, while Salcedo is the artist behind Frontera, This Is Our Land: A Blue Beetle Story, It's Only Teenage Wasteland, and more.
