Lords of the Fallen 2 Delayed to Early 2027
Lords of the Fallen 2, which had been set to launch this fall, has been delayed to early 2027. The move comes as a strategic decision by CI Games, with CEO Marek Tyminski explaining that the delay will provide "additional integration, iteration, and polishing time." This shift also helps the game avoid the immediate competition from Grand Theft Auto 6, which is scheduled for release in November.
Tyminski shared more details on X, stating that the development team has worked closely with the Gameplay Feedback Team, a group of experienced souls-like veterans within the Launch Creative Team. Their input has helped identify opportunities to refine and strengthen the overall experience of the game.
"These enhancements will benefit from additional integration, iteration, and polishing time," Tyminski wrote. "Enabling the team to deliver the highest possible quality at launch" is the goal behind the delay.
While no specific names were mentioned, Tyminski noted that the new release date strategically positions Lords of the Fallen 2 outside of a highly competitive holiday period. This ensures the game can receive the attention it deserves upon launch.
A Familiar Pattern in the Gaming Industry
It's hard to fault anyone for making way for a juggernaut like Grand Theft Auto 6. The delays surrounding GTA 6, from fall 2025 to May 2026 and finally November 19, have caused headaches for everyone trying to schedule their releases around it. This isn't just a GTA phenomenon, either. Last year, Hollow Knight: Silksong sent numerous developers scrambling for cover with its surprise release date. In 2023, Larian Studios released Baldur's Gate 3 a month early to avoid the competition from Starfield.
Even further back, Cyberpunk 2077 made a big splash in the 2020 holiday season, highlighting how high-profile releases can shift the landscape for other games. It seems that Lords of the Fallen 2 is following a similar pattern to avoid the turbulence of a crowded market.
A specific release date for Lords of the Fallen 2 hasn't been announced yet, but Tyminski said it's expected to launch in the first quarter of 2027. Fans of the series will be eagerly awaiting more details about the game's features and story as the release date approaches.
