Halo: Campaign Evolved Cross-Play and Cross-Saves Explained

Halo: Campaign Evolved is an Unreal Engine 5-powered remake of the iconic FPS that fans have cherished for over two decades. For the first time, this beloved entry in the franchise features four-player co-op, allowing friends to join forces both online and in local split-screen play. However, with so many platform options available today, it's likely that your friends may be on a different ecosystem than you. This raises the question: can you still play together with cross-play?

Cross-Play Support in Halo: Campaign Evolved

If you're hoping to team up with friends who play on different platforms, the answer is a resounding yes. Halo: Campaign Evolved supports cross-play across all major platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, and PC (via Windows or Steam). This means you can easily link up with friends regardless of the system they're using.

It's worth noting that every platform requires a Xbox gamertag, even on PlayStation 5. Before you can invite friends from other ecosystems, you'll need to set up a Microsoft account and sign in to it in-game. Once that's done, you can send invites to friends on any platform without any issues.

If you're playing with friends within the same ecosystem, you can simply send them game invites directly through your friends list on that platform.

Cross-Progression in Halo: Campaign Evolved

For players who own multiple platforms, the ability to jump between them while progressing in a game is a major convenience. Fortunately, Halo: Campaign Evolved supports cross-progression across all platforms. This means you can start your campaign on your PS5 and continue playing on your Xbox Series X or PC (or vice versa), seamlessly transferring your progress.

For Xbox and PC players, purchasing the game via the Microsoft Store grants access to Xbox Play Anywhere, which allows automatic switching between Xbox and PC without the need for an extra purchase. On the other hand, PS5 players will need to buy an additional copy of the game to take full advantage of cross-progression.

As with cross-play, signing in with a Microsoft account is essential to enable cross-progression. This ensures that your progress is synced across all platforms.

Halo: Campaign Evolved launches on July 28 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Those who pre-order the Digital Premium Edition or Collector's Edition can start playing five days early on July 23.
