Completing the Battening Down quest in the new Riven Tides update can be a frustrating experience if you aren't looking closely at the environment. While some objectives are straightforward, finding the specific leaking oil pipe requires a keen eye because it doesn't actually show any visible fluid spraying out.
If you are struggling to track down these locations, follow this guide on how to complete Battening Down in Arc Raiders efficiently.
Locating the Wavebreaker Sea Wall
The first step involves photographing specific structural damage. Depending on your spawn point, your pathing might change, but generally, you need to head toward the Wavebreaker sea wall located in the northeast section of the map.
To complete this objective:
- Navigate to the far left strut sticking out on the map.
- Locate the southern end of that strut.
- Take a photo of the cracks forming in the concrete.
While the quest specifies certain areas, you can likely photograph any of the large concrete struts that run north to south if you cannot find the exact crack immediately.
Fixing the Leaking Oil Pipe
Once you have finished your photography, head northeast across the Wavebreaker toward the large, partially buried pipeline. This area is relatively easy to navigate because this is the rightmost pipeline and the only one that remains intact.
Finding the leak is the hardest part of how to complete Battening Down in Arc Raiders. Follow these steps:
- Locate the southern end where the pipeline meets the sea wall.
- Follow the leftmost pipe heading north.
- Look for a yellow interaction icon.
Be warned: the section of the pipe you need to repair is not visibly leaking. It looks like a standard, intact pipe, so don't wait for a spray of oil to signal your arrival; just look for that yellow interact icon.
Sampling Seaweed near Azzurro Beach
The final task is much simpler once you know what to look for. You need to head west toward Azzurro Beach, which is situated just north of the Hotel Panorama Azzurro.
You will pass a small area featuring a pier, sunloungers, and torn parasols. Continue heading north toward the actual shoreline. When Apollo tells you to "sample" the shoreline, he specifically means searching for piles of seaweed. Look for the yellow marked icon on any pile of seaweed and interact with it to scan the sample.
Once you have scanned the seaweed, photographed the wall, and repaired the pipe, your Battening Down quest will be complete.
