How to Unlock Hercules and Phil in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Unlocking Hercules and Phil in Disney Dreamlight Valley is an exciting milestone for any player, but the process requires a bit more effort compared to other characters. The A Heroes Journey update introduced these legendary figures, and while their presence adds a new layer of adventure, the steps needed to bring them into your valley are not as straightforward. To unlock them, you must complete a series of quests and gather specific items, all within the newly added Hercules realm. Let’s walk through the process step by step.
The Moonlighting as a Hero Quest
To start, you must unlock the Hercules realm in the Dream Castle, which requires 11,000 Dreamlight — a significant investment, but one that pays off. Once unlocked, the Moonlighting as a Hero quest begins automatically.
Inside the realm, a cutscene shows Phil running through the woods. Follow him to the right and speak to him at a plinth surrounded by thorns. Phil explains that Hercules has gone missing and asks for your help. Your task is to investigate the thorns and fog around the area. Interact with the thorns to receive a mysterious message from Artemis.
Return to Phil, and he’ll help you decipher the message. Your next goal is to find a Moon Headband in the realm. Fortunately, it's located in the pool of water behind Phil. Use your fishing rod to catch it, then bring it to the pedestal next to Phil. After a short conversation, Phil will ask you to gather gifts for Artemis.
Items to Gather for Artemis:
- 3 x Greek Clay
- 3 x Greek Flowers
- 3 x Sylvan Wood
Transfer these to the pedestal, and the Moon Headband will glow. Equip it and follow Phil to the training arena, clearing night thorns along the way. Once there, run the obstacle course and light five Moonlight Beacons. Increasing your stamina bar to gold will help you glide through the course more efficiently.
If you complete the course in two minutes or less, the quest will end, and Hercules will appear. A new quest, Speedrun Crash Course, will start automatically.
The Speedrun Crash Course Quest
Head back to the woods and speak to Hercules and Phil. They’ll explain that they need Hermes to help them reach the temple. To obtain Winged Boots, you must mine them from a marble pile to the left of where you spoke to the duo.
While searching for the boots, gather five Pegasus Feathers. These are easy to spot due to their golden glow and are scattered throughout the forest.
Once you have the Winged Boots and feathers, return to Phil and head to the Hermes pedestal in the arena. To please Hermes, you’ll need to craft a Legendary Meal. Collect the following ingredients from the Hercules realm:
- 1 x Aegean Delights
- 1 x Legendary Goldfish
- 1 x Greek Cheeses
- 1 x Greek Fruits and Veggies
- 1 x Giant Lettuce
Use the cooking pot (firepit) at the arena entrance to prepare the meal. Once done, take it to the Hermes pedestal. The Winged Boots will glow, and you can equip them. Head to the starting line for the Hermes obstacle course and collect the five feathers.
Completing the course in five minutes will trigger the Thunderstruck quest, which begins immediately.
The Thunderstruck Quest
Hercules and Phil reveal that the temple gate is locked. However, a rotating puzzle on the floor can be solved using levers at the bottom. When the cloud with lightning is facing you, a mechanism will pop up in the center, allowing you to collect the Stone Bracers Mould.
Take the mould to Hercules, who will task you with gathering the following items:
- 6 x Hephaestus Coals
- 10 x Orichalcum Ore
- 10 x Greek Marble Fragment
Most of these can be found on the island, but you’ll need to return to the dark forest for Greek Marble Fragments. Once you’ve gathered all the required materials, you’ll unlock the temple gate, allowing you to officially welcome Hercules and Phil into your Disney Dreamlight Valley.
