Lego fans and Pokemon enthusiasts can now get ready to dive into the world of interactive Lego play with the launch of 12 new Lego Pokemon Smart Play sets on August 1. These sets are part of Lego's Smart Play collection, which features Smart Brick pieces that allow for interactive elements such as sound, light, and movement-based reactions. The collection includes two types of sets: Smart Play All-in-One and Smart Play Compatible.
The Smart Play All-in-One sets come with the Smart Brick pieces required to activate the interactive features across all 12 sets. These sets are more expensive than the compatible ones but offer a complete experience. The first of these sets is the Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle Display, priced at $120 and containing 751 pieces. This set allows users to interact with the characters by shaking them, restoring their health with a healing spray, or using the included training station to power them up. The second All-in-One set is the Training House with Pikachu, costing $70 and containing 400 pieces. This set lets users train Pikachu with a training dummy, hit targets in the tall grass with a Poke Ball, and feed a sandwich to see how the Pokemon react.
The remaining 10 sets are Smart Play Compatible, which means they do not come with Smart Brick pieces. However, they can still be used with the All-in-One sets to unlock interactive features. These sets are more affordable and include a variety of scenarios and characters. For example, the Berry Bash with Bulbasaur and Bidoof set includes 240 pieces and allows for interactive features like hearing Bulbasaur and Bidoof's shouts when paired with an All-in-One set. The Charmander and Geodude's Cavern Clash set, with 198 pieces, features a rocky diorama and a little lantern. The Cubone and Gengar's Spooky Showdown set, containing 782 pieces, includes moveable scenery and interactive battle elements.
Preorders for all 12 sets are now available at multiple online retailers. If you purchase any of the new Pokemon Smart Play sets from the Pokemon Center and spend $130 or more, you'll receive the Ditto as Squirtle: Movie Night Smart Play Compatible set as a free bonus. This offer is available through December 31 and is open to residents of the United States, while supplies last.
