Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown has revealed that she auditioned for the role of X-23 in Logan.

In a video promoting Enola Holmes 3 for Entertainment Weekly, Brown stated that she auditioned for a part in Logan when she was "11 or 12," which would've been roughly a decade ago. She said that she screen-tested with Hugh Jackman and went on to note that she was "broken" when she didn't get it, but felt that there was someone else who was better for the part. Dafne Keen was ultimately cast as Laura, aka X-23.

Although Brown didn't explicitly name X-23 as the role she was going for, it's unlikely any of the other kids in the movie auditioned with Hugh Jackman himself. 20th Century Fox previously released Keen's audition online, showing a key scene between her and Jackman. The actress improvised her audition and performed it partially in Spanish. It added an extra layer to X-23's character and created more of a barrier between her and Wolverine.

Brown's audition for X-23 would've likely happened right before the release of Stranger Things Season 1 in the summer of 2016. It's possible that if that show had been out when they cast the role and the producers had been able to see her performance, things may have gone a bit differently. Still, it seems like Keen was the right person for the role.

Keen went on to reprise the role in Deadpool and Wolverine. It wouldn't be surprising if she popped up in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars as well, given how loaded the casts for those movies are.
