New Project Motor Racing DLC Adds 9 Historic Cars, New Track
The latest update for Project Motor Racing, developed by Straight4 Studios, has arrived with a fresh wave of content aimed at enriching the experience for fans of classic motorsport. Dubbed the GT Icons Pack, this new DLC introduces nine historically significant vehicles and a brand-new track, marking a significant step forward for the racing sim. The addition highlights three distinct eras of GT and sports car racing, with three cars representing each era.
The Cars Included in the GT Icons Pack
The new cars have been carefully selected to reflect the golden age of motorsport, offering players a chance to experience the performance and design of these iconic machines. The following vehicles are included:
- GT 60: 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport
- GT 60: 1964 Shelby Daytona Coupe
- GT 60: 1965 Jaguar E-Type Lightweight
- Sports Car 67: 1967 Chapparal 2F
- Sports Car 67: 1967 Ford Mk.IV
- Sports Car 67: 1967 Lola T70 Mk 3
- GT 70: 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0
- GT 70: 1973 Chevrolet Corvette C3
- GT 70: 1973 Ford Capri RS3100
Each of these cars brings a unique blend of power, style, and racing heritage to the game, making the GT Icons Pack a must-have for fans of classic racing.
New Track: Rocky Knoll Raceway
In addition to the new cars, the GT Icons Pack also introduces a new track known as Rocky Knoll Raceway. This circuit is essentially an unlicensed version of the real-life Road America track, offering players a familiar yet stylized challenge. The inclusion of this track adds variety to the game's existing roster and provides a new challenge for players looking to test their skills on a more demanding layout.
This is the first major Project Motor Racing DLC since the hiring of Aristotelis Vasilakos, a veteran in sim racing development, who joined Straight4 Studios in late May as chief creative officer. Vasilakos has previously held key roles in the development of other racing simulations, including his time as head of vehicle handling for Assetto Corsa: Competizione and his work on the handling and physics for the original Assetto Corsa.
The GT Icons Pack arrives at a crucial time for Project Motor Racing, following a major update in March that aimed to "reset PMR’s foundation and bring the sim much closer to what a serious motorsport title should feel like." This update was a response to the game's initial reception, which was not as positive as the developers had hoped. With the addition of these historic cars and the new track, Project Motor Racing is taking steps to improve its standing in the competitive racing sim market.
