Pokemon Pokopia's new underwater expansion arrives on August 5, and the big update will allow the ability to dive and craft new items. This will also finally add one of the most-requested features in Pokopia with the introduction of a shared storage item.
A few teasers for Pokopia's Bubbly Basin update was revealed during Nintendo Direct, but we didn't have a lot of specific details until now. Famitsu was able to get hands-on with this new DLC and share some exciting details.
This major update will finally add a shared storage item, which is a craftable item that can be placed to add or remove items from anywhere in Pokopia. This means no longer needing to fast travel between towns to search for a specific item, which is a real game-changer for Pokopia fans, especially those who are focused on a lot of building and design work. This storage device will hold up to 140 items.
With Bubbly Basin being themed around water exploration, the update will add the ability to dive underwater. Famitsu reveals this new mechanic will also include visual indicators to help orient players and reduce any potential motion sickness while navigating the underwater areas.
The update introduces new crafting items for those looking to create new builds. There will be floating blocks for building structures on top of water, and a frameless glass item for more creative freedom with glass designs.
The new storage feature, dive mechanic, and craftable items appear to all be included with the free portion of the update, but some of the content is locked behind the paid expansion pass. This paid DLC includes access to the new Bubbly Basin town, brand-new Pokemon encounters, architecture kits, and more.
Bubbly Basin is only the first of a three-part DLC expansion. The full expansion pass is available on the Nintendo eShop. This is either $35 as a standalone purchase, or $105 bundled with Pokopia together.
