If You Haven’t Reserved A Steam Controller Yet, You’ll Have To Wait Until Next Year
If you haven’t reserved a Steam Controller yet, you might be in for a long wait. Last month, Valve launched its highly anticipated Steam Controller, and the demand has far outpaced the supply. As of today, new orders for the Steam Controller won’t be fulfilled by Valve until 2027 at the earliest. This delay has sparked concern among gamers who were eager to get their hands on the device.
Valve shared the news on its official site, where it noted that it has “no plans to stop making Steam Controller.” However, the company also mentioned that the response to the controller has “exceeded our expectations.” To provide clarity, Valve has now given customers three estimated delivery windows for the Steam Controller, depending on when they placed their orders: September 2026, December 2026, and a more general 2027, with a promise to provide more specific information in the future.
Players who have already placed their orders can log into their Steam account to see their individual delivery window. Valve emphasized that the reservation queue is still in effect and will be sending messages to players when it’s their turn to purchase a Steam Controller. Once the email is sent, customers will have 72 hours to complete their order. If they fail to do so, they risk losing their place in line to someone behind them.
While the Steam Controller has generally received positive feedback from those who have used it, there have been some issues with rumble compatibility, making it unusable in some games. In a quirky addition, the Steam Controller occasionally plays a famous cinematic scream when it is dropped or thrown — a feature that has amused many users.
Other Updates from Valve
In other Valve news, the Steam Deck recently underwent a significant price increase, partly due to ongoing shortages of components and memory. Additionally, Valve has indicated that both the Steam Machine and the VR headset Steam Frame should be released this summer. However, no specific dates or pricing details have been shared for either of these products.
