Here Are All The Games Announced During Summer Game Fest That You Can Play Right Now
It's been a hectic week for game announcements, with several high-profile showcases announcing a bunch of new games across Summer Game Fest week. Whether it was Sony's State of Play, the Xbox Games Showcase, Wholesome Direct, or Day of the Devs that caught your eye, there's an announcement for everyone. What you might not realize, though, is how many of those games are playable now in some form or another. Here are all of the Summer Game Fest announced games that you can get your hands on right now.
Early Access and Playable Demos
Several games announced during Summer Game Fest are already available to try in early access or through playable demos. These titles offer a glimpse into their full potential and are perfect for players looking to dive in before the official release.
- 1666 Amsterdam: As one of the original creators of Assassin's Creed, Patrice Desilets knows how to make an immersive game. 1666 Amsterdam is a third-person dark action-adventure game, and is releasing into early access this year. The prologue is currently free to download on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
- Montabi: Announced during the SEA Games Showcase, Montabi is a creature-collector roguelike deckbuilder (try saying that five times really fast) that has a demo available now. An updated demo will be available for Steam Next Fest, starting June 15, and the game's full release will be August 6.
- Gnaw: Gnaw made an appearance in IGN Live, and is described as an apocalyptic dino metroidvania. You can play the demo now.
- Palworld: Okay, fine, this one might be cheating a little bit since Palworld has been in early access since January 2024. During the main Summer Game Fest showcase, Palworld's 1.0 release date was announced as July 10.
- Don't Kill Them All: Shown during the Future Games Show, Don't Kill Them All also has a playable demo out now. Give it a try if you're into base building and turn-based strategy.
- Deer and Boy: This endearing (get it) cinematic platformer follows the story of a boy feeling from his home. Showing during the Wholesome Direct, Deer and Boy has a demo available now, and its full release will be June 23.
- Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit: Cozy Grove is one of my favorite wholesome life-sim games. Its sequel, Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit, has a free demo on Steam right now. It was announced during the Wholesome Direct that Camp Spirit will be released on July 15.
- Spirit Crossing: As part of Wholesome Direct, Spry Fox announced that its cozy MMO, Spirit Crossing, is now available for playtesting. You can sign up for that now via Steam.
- Fields of Aaru: During the Women-Led Games Showcase, Zymartu Games has released the first public demo of its Ancient Egyptian afterlife sim, Fields of Aaru.
- Virtue and a Sledgehammer: At the PC Gaming Show, a new trailer for Virtue and Sledgehammer was shown off. After returning to your hometown in rural Spain, you'll find that everyone you know is now digitized, replicated as a machine. There's a new demo on Steam now.
- Shroom and Gloom: Fungal deckbuilder Shroom and Gloom has a new demo ahead of its early access release date, set for Q3 of 2026.
- Wielders of the Essence: Roguelite Wielders of the Essence will be releasing on November 5, but during the PC Gaming Show it was also announced that a demo is available to play right now.
- Spellsided: Playing as a magical die, you can customize your faces so they each cast a different spell in new RPG Spellsided, which appeared during the PC Gaming Show. You can play the demo now.
- Star Trek: Outposts Unknown: The world premiere of Star Trek: Outposts Unknown kicked off the PC Gaming Show. It's an outpost builder with a demo available now.
- Hack '95: Hack '95 is a Windows '95-based hacking game, where you help students change their grades. It quickly goes wrong though, and you'll get a little too involved in a government conspiracy. You can play the demo now.
- Arcane Eats: A magical deckbuilder where you'll need to combine specific ingredients to appease your guests. There's an Arcane Eats demo available to play on Steam.
- There Are No Ghosts At The Grand: The musical trailer for There Are No Ghosts at the Grand was shown during the PC Gaming Show. Police officer Alex Watson is going to die in 30 days, but first he's got some mysteries to solve. You can play the demo now.
- Another Door: Another Door is a social deception game where you'll need to lie to your friends and gamble with your life. It's a co-op roguelite with a demo available now.
- Wind Runners: Wind Runners will see you flying around and dodging enormous war machines. This anime-inspired bullet hell has a demo available right now.
- Ascenders: Beyond the Peak: Tied together with your fellow climbers by a single rope, you'll have to guide them up a mountain. All is not as it seems though, as there are Lovecraftian horrors awaiting you in Ascenders: Beyond the Peak. You can play the demo now.
Playtests and Upcoming Releases
Some games are still in development but offer playtests or early demos that let you experience their gameplay first-hand.
- Enginefall: This multiplayer extraction shooter is set on a series of huge trains. There's a playtest live for Enginefall from June 8 to June 22.
- Realm of Ink: Realm of Ink was shown off during the Future Games Show Summer Showcase. The martial arts roguelike with brush stroke art style is out now on PC and consoles.
- WTF - Waifu Tactical Force: A new trailer at the Future Games Show Summer Showcase showed the game's revamped movement system. A playtest is live right now.
- Don't Fret: Don't Fret is a psychological horror game set in a music school. You'll play the role of a sentient guitar, and there's a demo available now.
- Marsupilami 2 - Salsa Palombia: Microids dropped a trailer for this sidescrolling platformer based on a beloved Belgian comic book character. There's a demo on Steam now.
- Blasphemous 2: The Third Sin: The Game Kitchen released a surprise update for Blasphemous 2, which dropped during the Future Games Show Summer Showcase. It's available on all platforms now.
- BioEden: BioEden's reveal trailer was joined by the news that a Steam demo is out now, too. It's a nature simulation game that focuses on restoring life to the planet. I had the chance to get hands-on with BioEden at a recent preview event, and fully recommend spending a couple of hours with its stunning art style and addictive gameplay loop.
- The Sinking City 2: The Sinking City 2 is another highly anticipated title that builds on the Lovecraftian themes of its predecessor. While the game hasn't officially launched yet, a demo is available now, allowing players to explore its eerie, atmospheric world and complex narrative.
