Sydney Sweeney is set to star in a new Sleepy Hollow movie helmed by Sony in a reimagining of the classic tale based on Lindsey Anderson Beer’s novel 'Hollow.'

Deadline reports that Beer will also write, direct, produce, the project in a streamlined adaptation of her own work. The book, which marks her debut novel, is set to publish under Putnam in Fall 2027.

Honey Trap, Sydney Sweeney’s independent production company, will co-produce the project alongside Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap. Hollow marks Honey Trap’s first film, which was quickly snapped up by Sony in what Deadline called a “competitive situation.”

This is Beer’s second time in the director’s chair following Pet Sematary: Bloodlines. She also wrote Sierra Burgess is a Loser, which released on Netflix in 2018.

‘Hollow’ follows Sleepy Hollow’s Katrina Van Tassel, the love interest of Ichabod Crane and deuteragonist in Washington Irving’s 1820 short story. Beer’s adaptation of the source material puts Van Tassel at center stage, pivoting away from her status as the ‘prize’ to be won in the love triangle between herself, Ichabod, and his rival, Brom Bones.

Sony is currently holding an open casting call for these two roles, with Sweeney reportedly portraying Van Tassel. This is the latest big news for the Euphoria star after her 2026 film The Housemaid was confirmed for a sequel following its predecessor’s impressive showing at the box office.
