This Key Battlefield 6 Feature Is Arriving Soon, But Another Is Still Further Away
Battlefield Studios has shared a community update for Season 4 of Battlefield 6 and Redsec, which is set to release in July. The upcoming season will bring naval warfare, new maps, and a highly-requested feature that players have been eager to see. While the timeline for another much-anticipated feature has been clarified, it won’t be arriving as soon as some had hoped.
Players have long been asking for in-game proximity in Battlefield 6 and Redsec battle royale, and the studio has finally confirmed that this feature will arrive "late" in Season 4. According to the developer, the feature is designed to "bring a new layer of communication and tension into the Battlefield sandbox to create more emergent moments between squads."
Naval Warfare and New Maps in Season 4
Naval warfare is also making its debut in Season 4, introducing drivable boats and two maps centered around water-based environments. Tsuru Reef is a new map set in a wide oceanfront space, featuring island terrain, beaches, and expansive open water. This map promises to bring a fresh dynamic to the game, allowing players to engage in combat on and around the water.
In addition to Tsuru Reef, the iconic Battlefield 5 map Wake Island is returning for Battlefield 6. The developer has confirmed that this version of the map has been updated to match the scale, systems, and modern setting of Battlefield 6, while still preserving the unique identity that has made it a fan-favorite across the series.
Server Browser Feature Coming Later in Season 5
Since Battlefield 6 launched, the community has been calling for the addition of a server browser feature. In previous Battlefield games, server browsers allowed players to join persistent servers that offered specific map or experience preferences. While the studio has now confirmed a release window for this feature, it will not be included in Season 4. Instead, the server browser is set to arrive in the Season 5 update, which is expected to launch sometime in the fall.
Currently, Battlefield 6 is in its third season, which introduced new weapons, additional attachments, and a reimagined version of Battlefield 4’s popular Golmud Railway map. The second phase of Season 3 content, known as the Blastpoint update, is set to roll out next week. You can check out the latest Season 3 trailer below to get a glimpse of what’s coming.
