Todd Howard On The Elder Scrolls 6: “We Need To Get It Right”
The Elder Scrolls 6 remains one of the most anticipated upcoming games in the gaming industry, and Todd Howard, the game director, has emphasized the need for the studio to deliver a memorable experience. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Howard confirmed that the majority of developers at Bethesda Game Studios are currently working on The Elder Scrolls 6.
"We know we need to get it right, and it's been a long time," Howard said, highlighting the challenges and pressure that come with developing such a high-profile title.
Indeed, the wait for The Elder Scrolls 6 has been long. The game was first announced over eight years ago, and to date, only one video has been released — a simple title reveal. The lack of further updates has left fans eagerly waiting for more information.
The game did not appear at the Xbox Games Showcase earlier this June. According to Matt Booty, Xbox's chief content officer, the decision was made to wait for the right moment to showcase the game again. "When you decide to show it, you want it to be the best you’ve got," Booty explained. "And also that when you show the game, you’re also giving them a promise of, 'Hey, it’s coming soon.'"
Howard has reflected on whether announcing The Elder Scrolls 6 so early was the best decision. "I have asked myself that a lot," he admitted. "I don’t know. I probably would’ve announced it more casually." Despite his reservations, he acknowledged that the announcement proceeded as planned.
He added with a touch of humor: "Just pretend we didn’t announce it. It doesn’t exist. No one has heard a word."
