Tom Holland and Zendaya Are Huge Fans of PlayStation's Spider-Man Games, Insomniac Invites Them for Studio Tour

Tom Holland and Zendaya, who star in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, have expressed their admiration for Insomniac Games' Spider-Man titles. During a recent interview with IGN Benelux, the pair was asked if the games influenced any scenes in the upcoming film. While they didn't confirm direct inspiration, both actors revealed they are big fans of the series.

"We love the games, the games are absolutely sensational," Holland said. Zendaya, who plays MJ in the film, added, "I'm not very good at playing video games. I get very frustrated because I want to play it all by myself, and he'll try to come [help me]." The comment highlights the fun and lighthearted dynamic between the two actors, even when it comes to gaming.

A Challenge with the Symbiote

The duo also shared a funny anecdote about Zendaya's experience with Marvel's Spider-Man 2. In the game's second half, Mary Jane Watson is possessed by a symbiote and transforms into the villain Scream. Zendaya admitted that she had a hard time navigating that section of the game. "I had a lot of trouble with that part," she said. In the end, it was Holland who had to assist her through the challenge.

This isn't the first time Holland has spoken about his appreciation for Insomniac's work. During the promotion of Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, he mentioned that Sony gave him a PS5 to play the game. He said he enjoyed it so much that the team even included a move from the game in the film. Fans speculate that this move is when Peter Parker flips Green Goblin through the air and slams him into the ground using his webs.

An Invitation to the Studio

Following Holland and Zendaya's comments about the games during the Brand New Day promotion, Insomniac Games has extended an invitation for the two stars to visit the studio. Whether or not the visit will take place remains to be seen, but it would be a great opportunity to showcase the Brand New Day suit, which will be added to Marvel's Spider-Man 2 next month.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31st.
