11 Bit Studios has officially confirmed that a reimagining of the cult classic anti-war game, This War of Mine, is currently in development. During its 2025 financial summary, the studio revealed plans to return to its most important brands using a "refreshed formula."

Expanding the 11 Bit Studios Universe

The studio's financial situation remains "stable," supported by strong sales from recent titles. The narrative-driven survival game The Alters has sold 545,000 copies, while Frostpunk 2 is approaching 880,000 copies sold.

"The Alters showed that we can build new, global brands, and we are consistently developing Frostpunk as a long-term franchise," stated 11 Bit CEO Przemysław Marszał. In addition to these hits, the studio also has two "completely new" and unannounced games currently in development.

Moving Beyond Standard Remasters with the This War of Mine Remake

The studio's future strategy involves a mix of brand-new IPs and reimagined classics. This includes an all-new Frostpunk game and the highly anticipated This War of Mine remake, referred to internally as "P15."

According to Marszał, these projects are not standard remasters. "Projects like Frostpunk 1886 or the newly announced P15... represent a fully modern, fresh take on the games that defined 11 Bit studios," he explained. These titles are designed from the ground up for long-term community engagement and a multi-year lifecycle.

Creative director Michał Drozdowski added that this evolution allows the studio to explore boundaries more boldly. He noted that every game under the 11 Bit banner should carry a "unique, ambitious artistic vision" and a "special emotional charge."

Timely Themes and Future Release Roadmap

The prospect of a This War of Mine remake is particularly poignant given today's global climate. With ongoing conflicts in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran causing massive civilian casualties, the themes explored in the original 2014 game have never been more relevant.

Modernizing this experience for a new audience offers a chance to continue the studio's legacy of charity fundraising. While we wait for more details on "P15," we do know what is on the immediate horizon:
