Ubisoft’s mysterious Assassin’s Creed Hexe project is experiencing significant turbulence following news that the Assassin’s Creed Hexe game director, Benoit Richer, has announced his departure from the company.

Benoit Richer Departs Ubisoft for Servo Games

In a recent LinkedIn post, the former Ubisoft Montreal developer shared details regarding his exit from the publisher. Richer has officially joined the Quebec-based indie studio Servo Games, where he will serve as both a co-founder and game director.

This marks the second major leadership change for the project this year. Earlier in February, creative director Clint Hocking exited the title, leading to Jean Guesdon stepping in to fill the role.

A History of Leadership for Assassin's Creed Hexe

Richer’s career is deeply intertwined with some of the industry's most prominent franchises. His professional journey includes several notable milestones:

  • Joining Ubisoft Montreal in 2000 as a level designer for titles such as Rainbow Six Vegas 2.
  • Moving to WB Games Montreal in 2010, where he directed Batman: Arkham Origins.
  • Returning to Ubisoft Montreal in 2017 to work on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

While it remains unclear who will succeed him as the Assassin's Creed Hexe game director, the project's trajectory is currently shrouded in mystery. Aside from a single logo, very little information has been released about the title since its 2022 announcement alongside Assassin’s Creed Infinity (now known as Animus Hub) and Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

During the initial reveal, franchise vice executive producer Marc-Alexis Côté described the project as a "new flagship title" that would offer "a very different type of Assassin’s Creed game." However, with no official release date currently set, fans are left waiting for more concrete news from Ubisoft.
