Blizzard decides 'Limitless Rage' barbarian items should actually have a limit after watching them rampage through Diablo 4 dealing quadrillions of damage

The battle against Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred, may be over, but a new crisis has emerged in Diablo 4. Recent hotfixes have seen Blizzard disable the Limitless Rage legendary item aspect because it was simply too powerful for the game's balance.

The Broken Interaction Behind Limitless Rage

The issue stemmed from a specific combination of items that allowed Barbarians to reach astronomical damage levels. When players combined the Limitless Rage aspect with two other powerful uniques, the results were game-breaking:

  • Melted Heart of Selig (Mythic Unique): This item doubles fury in exchange for using it as a life resource.
  • Endurant Faith (Unique): This item spreads incoming damage over several seconds.

This interaction caused the Limitless Rage stacks to accumulate over 15,000 times in an instant. As a result, players were dealing quadrillions of damage, trivializing even the most difficult monsters in the game. YouTube streamer Rob2628 provided a detailed explanation of how this build used the Whirlwind skill to tear through enemy packs with ease.

Blizzard's Commitment to Competitive Integrity

With the introduction of official in-game leaderboards, Blizzard has been moving quickly to patch exploits. Earlier this week, the studio hotfixed three bugs affecting Sorcerers, Rogues, and Spiritborn players.

While these bugs were egregious, Blizzard’s rapid response shows a clear commitment to maintaining competitive integrity within the ARPG community. In the past, some of these issues might have been left alone until a major scheduled patch.

Currently, any item featuring the disabled aspect will display a message stating it has been "temporarily disabled." A Blizzard community manager stated that the developers are working on a solution and aim to have it fixed "as soon as we can." Given the speed of recent patches, players may see a resolution by the end of the day.
