Cognition Method is an upcoming first-person, atmospheric sci-fi puzzle game that's visually inspired by Stanley Kubrick's legendary classic 2001: A Space Odyssey. It promises unique, deep, and dramatic storytelling, and it's led by a former environment artist on Cyberpunk 2077 at CD Projekt Red. It will be released for PC on September 1.
Team Cognition, the developer, is a three-person team led by Timur Ozdoev, an Environment Artist on Cyberpunk 2077. Ozdoev cites the aforementioned 2001: A Space Odyssey as a visual inspiration as well as the minimalist architecture of Tadao Ando. Check out the first trailer above and the first screenshots in the gallery below.
The story and puzzles center around The Cube, a mysterious artifact that the crew aboard the spaceship have figured out how to enter. The puzzles themselves are based around gravity-changing mechanics.
