Battlestate Games has officially rolled out a new Escape From Tarkov update, bringing version 1.0.4.5 to players. This latest patch introduces a variety of performance improvements and significant balance changes designed to refine the extraction shooter experience.
Optimization and Performance Enhancements
The developers have implemented several changes aimed at boosting PC resource efficiency. The recent Escape From Tarkov update includes updates to the animation system and the audio engine to improve how the game utilizes hardware. Additionally, players will notice an increased FPS limit within menus, which can now be further adjusted via in-game settings.
To streamline the gameplay loop, the architecture of post-raid systems has been reworked. This change is intended to reduce the time required to exit a raid and return to the main menu. Optimization efforts also extend to specific maps:
- An updated player culling system is now active on Lighthouse, Shoreline, Woods, and Ground Zero.
- Environment object and geometry optimizations have been implemented for Streets of Tarkov.
- Improvements to shadows, textures, and location geometry are included in the patch.
Gameplay and Weapon Balancing in the Escape From Tarkov Update
This Escape From Tarkov update introduces the second stage of weapon modification adjustments, specifically focusing on barrels and handguards. Following the first iteration, Battlestate has further refined muzzle devices and stocks to create a more meaningful choice for players.
The logic for barrels has been standardized; longer barrels now provide greater recoil reduction but impose higher ergonomics penalties. Conversely, handguards no longer reduce recoil, as their primary role is now to offset the ergonomics penalties caused by different barrels. Furthermore, suppressors and compensators now increase ergonomics penalties while reducing recoil less than before, a move intended to encourage more unsuppressed weapon builds.
Many weapons have also received improved recoil and ergonomics stats, including:
- All AK, AKM, and E-series (AK-100) weapons
- Steyr AUG A1 and A3
- HK G36 and HK 416A5
- FN SCAR-L and FN SCAR-H
- SIG MCX-SPEAR and SIG MCX .300
- CMMG Mk47 Mutant, Rifle Dynamics RD-704, and Aklys Defense Velociraptor
- All machine guns
- All bolt-action and marksman rifles chambered in 7.62x51, 7.62x54R, .338, and .50 BMG
Key Bug Fixes and Feature Updates
Beyond balancing, the patch addresses several mechanical issues. The left-shoulder firing stance logic has been updated so that colliding with obstacles no longer triggers an instant switch to the right shoulder; instead, the weapon will continue moving for a short period. Additionally, a task progression protection system has been added to local PvE Zone raids to prevent progress loss during unexpected client shutdowns.
The developers also addressed several critical bugs:
- Fixed "Error 228" during trader dialogues that blocked task progression.
- Resolved an issue where armor could not be picked up if dropped while using the modification window.
- Fixed a bug preventing progression in The Labyrinth after spawning in the burner tool room.
- Corrected issues with PMC bots behaving incorrectly toward player Scavs with high Fence reputation.
- Fixed visual glitches involving dead players, moving bots, and floating stationary weapons.
