The banners in Neverness to Everness follow many of the established rules set by its gacha predecessors, but significant differences exist in several key areas. While some changes are incredibly player-friendly, others hide a much steeper cost than you might expect.
To help you navigate these systems, I’ve broken down every mechanic and currency used in NTE below, alongside an analysis of why the Neverness to Everelse gacha can be deceptively expensive.
Is the Neverness to Everness gacha fair?
The answer is complicated. If your only goal is to acquire a specific character and a decent weapon, then NTE is significantly kinder than almost any other gacha I have ever played. However, if you value cosmetics, the system becomes much less generous.
For example, obtaining an exclusive banner outfit requires 200 pulls. That is an expensive undertaking, even when accounting for pull counts carrying over into a character's next rerun. To put it in perspective, that cost is equivalent to losing your 50/50 every single time, plus an extra 20 pulls.
The presentation also creates a psychological trap. The gacha math is displayed on a vibrant, cheerful board game. It is fun to play, but because players can top up dice rolls in seconds, it becomes incredibly tempting to keep going. When you are only a few lucky pulls away from an S-Class character just a few tiles ahead, the urge to spend is massive. Furthermore, landing on certain tiles rewards additional pulls and currencies, creating a constant illusion of progress that encourages continuous spending.
Understanding the Neverness to Everness gacha mechanics
Here is a comprehensive breakdown of how the various pulling systems function:
Character and Weapon Banners
- Character 50/50 (Removed): There is no dreaded 50% chance here. When you pull an S-Class, you are guaranteed the featured character on their limited-time banner.
- Character Pity: Soft pity begins at 70 pulls (where rates jump from 1.87% to 19.59%), with a hard pity guarantee at 90 pulls.
- Pity Carry Over: Pull counts carry over between limited banners. If you are 20 pulls into a banner, those counts remain active when the next character arrives.
- Banner Cosmetics: Much like Infinity Nikki, you can earn exclusive cosmetics by hitting milestones at 50, 120, and 200 pulls. The base chance for early acquisition is quite low at 0.33%.
- Character Copies (Awakenings): Known as "Awakenings," these can be obtained via banners or the Warp Exchange shop. Interestingly, you can activate them in any order (e.g., A6 before A1), though this may impact their total power output.
- Weapon Banner: Using Tri-Keys, you can pull for Arcs (weapons). This system is much harsher: there is only a 25% chance of getting the featured weapon when pulling an S-Class, with a base drop rate of just 3%.
The Beginner's Experience
The permanent banner, Strange Encounters, incorporates a beginner's discount. Your first 50 pulls cost only 8 dice per pull instead of 10. Once you hit the 50-pull mark, you can choose any standard S-Class character for free. This reward stays in your inventory until you decide to claim it.
Navigating NTE Gacha Currencies
Managing your resources is vital to avoiding the temptation of the board game mechanics. Here are the primary currencies used for pulls and upgrades:
| Currency | Used For | How to Obtain | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Solid Dice | Limited-time character banners | Warp/Lost Exchange, Fair Exchange shop, login events, and Battle Pass. | | Fabricated Dice | Standard (Strange Encounters) banner | Hunter Level progression, beginner events, and various in-game milestones. | | Tri-Keys | Arc Selection (Weapon) shop | Fair Exchange shop, limited-time events, and the Hunter Exchange shop. | | Warp Pieces | Warp Exchange shop | Pulling duplicates of S-Class/A-Class characters or landing on specific tiles. | | Lost Pieces | Lost Exchange shop | Pulling B-Class characters or landing on specific board tiles. | | U00-NE | Arc Exchange shop | Defeating anomaly bosses and mini-bosses. | | Annulith | General pulls and Fair Exchange | Completing missions, daily tasks, achievements, and redeeming codes. |
