Gachapon-Inspired Custom PC Showcases Creative Design at Computex

Custom PCs aren’t often the most efficient or the most cost-effective, but they sure do look neat, and this gachapon-inspired build on the Computex show floor is no different. The machine features a big pink and white floating heart spinning on top, and that’s not even the silliest (positive) thing about it. For those unfamiliar, gachapon machines are a form of vending machine that has historically been very popular in Japan, where users pay cash for a chance to get one of many minifigures or collectibles. Without them, the gacha game genre wouldn’t exist—or at least it would have a different name.

A Custom Build with a Playful Twist

Built on top of a Thermaltake Tower 600, which already somewhat resembles a vending machine thanks to its curved glass panel, this PC is packed with high-end components. It includes an RTX 5060, a Ryzen 5 9600X, and custom water cooling to keep everything running smoothly. TechLin, the builder behind this project, 3D printed a replacement front panel, as well as various details like a spinning dial to mimic the crank of a gachapon machine, a price tag icon, and a collection of gacha capsules along the side.

The Computex version of this build is a refined take on a previous model that was showcased four months ago on TechLin's YouTube channel. This updated version adds some fun flair to celebrate the yearly tech event. The Care Bears that once occupied the capsules have been replaced with tiny RAM sticks, thematically colored to match the gachapon aesthetic. These are very cute additions and, presumably, much more affordable than actual RAM would be.

Unique Features Bring the Gachapon Theme to Life

One of the standout features of this build is the CPU cooler that plays a custom gacha animation directly in the center of the PC. This adds a playful and interactive element to the otherwise high-performance machine. While this isn’t the only custom PC on display at Computex, it is arguably one of the most eye-catching.

Other notable builds include darkFlash's Floatron, which caught my attention with its custom evil scientist-like design, and a Taipei 101 skyscraper-themed PC complete with a rock climber scaling its side. As for custom-styled cases that are actually available for purchase, the Venom-like ferrofluid case and the Corsair Warthog, a military-themed build, are both impressive and would make for great additions to any collection.
