Oscar-winning legend Sally Field has a very blunt message for anyone who hasn't experienced the magic of Nintendo's flagship franchise: "What the hell is the matter with you?!"

The legendary actress shared this passionate outburst during a recent interview with journalist Jake Hamilton. While discussing her career, Field revealed a heartwarming connection between her personal life and The Legend of Zelda series that spans generations.

A Nostalgic Connection to The Legend of Zelda

During the interview, Hamilton asked Field to recall memories of working alongside the late, great Robin Williams on the 1993 classic Mrs. Doubtfire. Field shared that some of her most cherished moments from that era involved gaming.

Field recounted how she and Williams would spend time playing early entries in the Zelda series at her rented home while filming the movie. Her love for the franchise hasn't faded with time, as she continues to revisit these titles today.

"We'd play the early games of Zelda together. Zelda, the computer game, that I still play with my grandsons," Field explained. She even admitted to a bit of solo nostalgia, noting, "Even when my grandsons aren't there, I pretend they are there. I play them."

Sally Field's Verdict on Non-Gamers

The conversation took a humorous turn when Field directed her attention toward her Remarkably Bright Creatures co-star, Lewis Pullman. Seeking to see if he shared her passion for Nintendo classics, she asked if he had ever played any Zelda games.

Upon learning that Pullman had never experienced the franchise, Field didn't hold back:

  • The Reaction: "What the hell is the matter with you?!"
  • The Reason: "It's so fun."

Pullman took the critique in stride, admitting to the actress that he has indeed been "missing out" on one of the most legendary gaming franchises in history. It seems even Hollywood royalty agrees that there is something undeniably special about the world of Hyrule.
