I haven't achieved 100% Crimson Desert, and quite frankly, I haven't even attempted it yet. Between sleep deprivation and other responsibilities, I simply don't have the stamina to tackle a game of this magnitude. However, Palworld's community manager, John "Bucky" Buckley, is clearly up for the challenge.
A Sense of Wonder and Achievement
Bucky recently took to social media to share his massive milestone. "I have 100% Crimson Desert," Bucky says in a recent post. He didn't just stop at the completion mark; he offered high praise for the experience.
"Simply put, Crimson Desert made me feel a sense of wonder and adventure that no other game has. The only thing that comes close for me is Morrowind. A truly breathtaking experience, and one that I enjoyed ever second of. Easily my game of the year."
The Reality of the 189-Hour Grind
While the achievement is impressive, a closer look at Bucky's screenshot reveals a detail that is truly bone-chilling. To reach 100% Crimson Desert, he clocked in exactly 189.1 hours to finish all 34 achievements. Even the developers at Pearl Abyss were stunned by the speed of his progress.
"Wow, in under 200 hours? That's impressive! We're glad you enjoyed the journey," the developers remarked.
Despite reaching the milestone, Bucky revealed that the journey is far from over. He noted that even after completing all primary challenges, there is still a massive amount of content left to explore:
- He has over 20 hours of side missions still available to do.
- The "100%" status specifically refers to finishing every major challenge.
- The gameplay experience was nostalgic enough to make him "feel like a little kid again."
It is hard to ignore the momentum behind this title, especially considering it managed to secure over 5 million sales just a couple of weeks after launch. While I have spent thousands of hours in games like Overwatch, those were accumulated over multiple years. Achieving 100% Crimson Desert in just one month is a feat that will take me a very, very long time to match.
