Resident Evil: Requiem Modding Guide for Tiny Nightmares

If you're finding Resident Evil: Requiem a bit scary, why not mod it to make the enemies tiny? This Capcom masterpiece is my favourite in years, largely because it delivers genuine terror, particularly during Grace sections. However, even as Leon becomes a complete badass on Insanity difficulty, the game doesn't hesitate to swarm you with teeth and claws alongside truly horrible death animations. When that horror gets a bit much, there is a hilarious solution: making all those nasty monsters super small. It is simply hard to be scared by a cleaver-wielding zombie chef when he doesn't even come up to Grace's kneecap.

The Enemies Scale Modifier Explained

Such joys await thanks to the straightforwardly named Enemies Scale Modifier created by modder lucablight83. Before you can use this script, you must have RE Framework installed on your system. Once that prerequisite is met, the tool allows you to modify enemy size in both directions with ease. You can shrink enemies down to a mere 10% of their original size or scale them up to an imposing 300% larger than normal. The effect is toggled via an in-game button and slider, applying changes instantaneously for immediate gameplay shifts.

However, be prepared for some visual glitches when you suddenly transform a room full of zombies into miniature versions:

  • Clothing physics may break, causing textures to clip or behave erratically on tiny bodies.
  • Physics glitches can occur upon enemy death, where bodies might move on their own or even fly away unexpectedly.

The mod's creator notes that "sometimes, when the enemies are killed, there are weird physics glitches, like the bodies move on their own (or even fly away...)." Despite these quirks, the visual comedy of seeing a massive room filled with pint-sized threats is unmatched.

A Comedic Twist That Also Increases Difficulty

One side effect of this mod is that it actually makes Requiem both funny and much harder at the same time. In Leon's opening scene, you will now see normal-sized NPCs fleeing in terror from tiny zombies which are quite difficult to shoot due to their small hitboxes. While it is hard to feel intimidated by a pint-sized doctor with a ludicrously billowing coat, putting him down becomes surprisingly challenging. As for larger enemies like Chunk, he ends up looking almost cute, though still dangerous.

Pair this mod with the one that turns Leon's Porsche into a driveable hamburger, and we've effectively turned Requiem into a comedy. If you want a mod that is a little more serious about how it ups the challenge, consider trying the zombie bite infection mod where bites actually infect you. And for the true sickos, there is already a mod that lets you play the whole thing in VR: no thanks!
