Marathon's First Wipe Is Just A Few Weeks Away, Here's What Carries Over

Bungie has officially confirmed that Marathon Season 2 is set to launch on June 2, marking the community’s first major seasonal wipe in the studio’s extraction shooter. This reset will effectively wipe the slate clean, returning the playing field to square one for all operators.

In a recent blog post, Bungie detailed exactly what will persist and what will vanish when the new season begins. The update also outlines what players can expect during the final few weeks of Season 1 as they prepare for the transition.

What Will Be Reset

When the clock strikes June 2, players will need to start rebuilding their progress from the ground up in several key areas. The following elements will be completely wiped:

  • Runner and Ranked Levels: Your progression levels in both casual and competitive modes will reset to zero.
  • Faction Progression: Faction levels and any associated upgrades will be removed.
  • Currencies: All standard in-game currencies will be cleared. However, premium currencies such as Lux and Silk will remain in your account.
  • Vault Inventory: Everything stored in your personal vault will be deleted.
  • Progression-Based Unlocks: Schema unlocks and seasonal codex entries that grant gear based on your runner or ranked levels will disappear.

What Carries Over to Season 2

While the reset is extensive, players will not lose access to their permanent collections. Bungie has clarified that cosmetic items and purchased gear will carry over intact. This means that while your progression stats will vanish, your hard-earned visual customizations and previously acquired equipment will remain available for use in the new season.

Preparing for the Final Weeks of Season 1

With the launch date firmly set, the focus now shifts to how players choose to spend their remaining time in Season 1. Since currencies and vault items will be lost, it is advisable to spend any excess resources on items or upgrades that do not rely on vault storage or temporary currency pools.

The first seasonal wipe serves as a fresh start for the meta, allowing new strategies and builds to emerge in Season 2. Players should take advantage of the current window to complete any lingering objectives before the reset.
