All Mina The Hollower Spark Container Locations

Spark is a vital resource in Mina The Hollower. Every time you perish in combat, or fall into one too many pits or deep pools of water, you’ll lose a Spark. This will either linger in the air or latch onto an enemy that killed you. You’ll want to get Spark back, as if you die with none on your person, you’ll lose all your collected Bones. This sets you back to square one when it comes to level ups, or if you’re trying to buy a particularly expensive upgrade, such as one of the many Mina The Hollower weapons from the blacksmith.

However, this open-world game has far more secrets than you’d probably expect, and one of them is that Sparks have a second function: being able to open certain doors. This requires you to get more Sparks, and with only four of them available in total, it can lead to some spicy situations. Below then, are the locations of all the Spark Containers, the Mina The Hollower Trinket that adds one extra Spark to your inventory, and what opening the Spark Doors can lead to.

Mina The Hollower Spark Container locations

Mina starts with one Spark available. When collecting the rest of them, including the one the Trinket gives you, that makes a total of five Sparks you can lose before you lose all your Bones. If you’re worried about losing a fortune, the Bell of Grace Trinket, found in Ossex: Station Underside by giving Krayd 1,000 Bones to heal him after you thwart his mugging attempt, will help either save half or all Bones on a sparkless death.

Here are all the Spark Container locations:

Ossex: Emporium

The Emporium shop owner in Ossex: City Center (who will occasionally drag you into his shop) has one Spark Container available for 1,500 Bones.

Mourner’s Mile: Knight’s Rest

This Spark Container requires patience, as it’s one of the few side quests where you need to dodge enemies and projectiles to bring an item from one screen all the way to the other side of the local area. You’ll need to have cleared the Queensbury Crypt dungeon and exited through the shortcut, as well as two Kears to clear the locks and access the item you need to get this Spark Container.

Starting from the Underlab next to the three-Spark door in this location at the northwest point of the area, head up the stairs to the right and burrow through the tunnel next to the switch. Unlock the two Kear locks and climb the rope. Burrow to pick up the head, and a ghostly apparition will constantly attack you as long as you’re holding it. Use the ledges to leap down to the area south.

Dodge or kill all the enemies and exit through the southeast exit. In the following area, it might be worth setting down the head to deal with the goblins throwing spears before crossing the chasm. You need to head to the southwest exit (where the crow and hunchback are standing next to two gravestones) and throw the stone head onto the headless statue. This will unlock the gate west and enable you to open the chest to claim the second Spark Container.

Septemburg: Wastewater Canal

Once you have two Spark Containers, head for the shortcut between the Windy Generator and the schoolhouse in Kindlewood. There is a breakable wall on the far right side of the screen with the Tomato Boar. Knock it down and use the Spark Containers to open the way.

Here you’ll find Luxy, a moth who is a big fan of Mina’s generators. She asks to join her on the way back through to the generator. However, you’ll likely have noticed that it’s a bit too dark to the north. Luxy can light up the area once every few seconds, but she will also push anything nearby away from her, including you, into a pit. Go through the tunnel about halfway between Luxy and the pipe, then through the pipes and hop to the right.

In the next screen, there is a ledge left of the lantern and a small gap to jump across. Head up, left at the crossroads, and stop one space up from the furthest point to the left to jump over the gap. Head up and to the right, making sure Luxy isn’t going to knock you off, and time the jump to the moving platform. On the other side, move right, then up. There are single blocks between this ledge and the second moving platform, so have Luxy somewhere where her shockwave can’t reach. This bit can take a few tries, so just keep an eye on your health and heal when needed. When you reach the end of the moving platform, leap to the left next to the lantern and exit stage left. You’ll get your Sparks back when you break the wall to the right.

It’s not quite over when you head north and reach the generator, as Luxy will fly into the generator. If it’s not immediately obvious, anyone not a Hollower will be corrupted by the generators, so you’ll then face the Mina The Hollower secret boss Deluxy. She’s very fast and uses pollen that lingers around to attack you. When you defeat Dark Deluxy, a Plasma Vial will drop. She’ll ask to be healed. Use the Plasma Vial when standing next to her, and the darkness will dissipate, leaving a healthy Deluxy behind. She’ll also drop the Spark Container.

Mina The Hollower Spark Container Trinket location

The Spark Container is sold in Pinky’s Parlor. You can find this shop in Backwaters: Shanty Swamp. To get there, you need to go to the southeast corner of the first screen and look for the pink bridge. When you enter, the pink gorilla will sell you the Spark Catcher Mina The Hollower Trinket for 500 Bones. When equipped alongside the others you find on your journey, it will bring the grand total to four Sparks.
