Noah Hawley, the creative mind behind Fargo and the upcoming Far Cry television adaptation, has confirmed that production for Alien: Earth Season 2 is rapidly approaching. The science fiction series is preparing to begin filming at Pinewood Studios in London later this year.

Production Update: Filming Begins This Summer

Hawley recently shared progress updates during an interview with Deadline. "What I can be saying is we start [shooting] this summer. We’re getting close,” he noted.

He also highlighted the excitement of seeing the physical production take shape, noting, “I did a stage walk today past the props and costumes. Things are being built. It’s always exciting to see it."

Expanding the Universe in Alien: Earth Season 2

The upcoming season promises to deepen the lore established in the premiere. The story will continue to follow Wendy and the mysterious hybrids—beings consisting of a child's consciousness within a synthetic body—while dealing with the aftermath of the USCSS Maginot crash.

Hawley teased that the scale of the show is increasing, promising:

  • More extensive world-building
  • A "bigger show" than the premiere
  • An expansion on the initial narrative promise

Peter Dinklage and Potential for Season 3

Fans can also look forward to seeing Game of Thrones veteran Peter Dinklage in a prominent role. Hawley, who describes himself as an ensemble writer, assured fans that "he’s got a major role, and people are going to feel it’s a worthy role for him."

While a release date for Alien: Earth Season 2 has not yet been announced, Hawley is keeping the door open for future installments. He noted that longevity depends on balancing costs with viewership: "Assuming that the price of execution and the audience stays commensurate, we could go for as long as we want. If we nurture them, these franchises can give back for a very long time."
