This Open-World Monster-Taming RPG Wants To Be Your Next Endless Adventure

After smashing through its Kickstarter campaign, open-world adventure game Tomo: Endless Blue has dropped a new "director's cut" trailer showing off what players can expect from the upcoming game. GameSpot can exclusively reveal this fresh look at the game, which features more gameplay, more music, and a tighter look at the world awaiting players.

In development at Onibi—a studio that features several veterans from Fallguys, Fortnite, Baldur's Gate 3, and League of Legends—Tomo: Endless Blue is billed as an open-world voxel RPG where every player inhabits their very own unique world. The game is also working in several other genres into its design, including monster-taming, sandbox creativity, and multiplayer exploration.

Onibi is aiming to deliver early access up to a year before public release for backers, as well as exclusive rewards and a standalone prequel set 800 years before the main story. If you're interested, you can secure your early access to the game by pledging $29 to the project.

Procedurally Generated Worlds For A Truly Unique Experience

Another interesting idea in Tomo is its approach to procedurally generated worlds, as Onibi generates the entire RPG around each player. This means that each village will have its own architecture and inhabitants, cultures with distinct beliefs, and distinct NPCs that help to shape the narrative arc. All generations run locally on a player's device, and no internet connection is required.

Tomo: Endless Blue has surpassed its current Kickstarter goal of $100,000. The project has earned over $118,500 in pledges with 18 days left, and if it hits its $120,000 stretch goal, players will have the option to personalize their Tomo critter with a hat.

Other Monster-Taming Games To Watch In June

While there's no date yet for the closed pre-alpha, fans of creature-collecting games will also want to check out one of the big early access releases of June, Voidling Bound. Launching on June 9, this game will allow you to not only hatch, evolve, and upgrade powerful space creatures, but also take control of them in battle.
