As we approach the launch of Forza Horizon 6 at the end of next week, Playground Games has officially clarified how the title will perform on next-gen hardware. For players deciding between high fidelity or smooth motion, understanding the Forza Horizon 6 Xbox Series X|S quality and performance modes is essential for the best driving experience.

Forza Horizon 6 Xbox Series X|S Quality and Performance Modes

Players on both the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will have the ability to toggle between two distinct rendering modes. This allows you to choose between maximum visual fidelity or a higher, more fluid framerate depending on your setup and preference.

Xbox Series X Technical Specifications

On the flagship Xbox Series X, the game offers two high-end options:

  • Quality Mode: Runs the game in native 4K resolution at a locked 30fps.
  • Performance Mode: Targets 4K resolution while utilizing dynamic scaling to maintain a consistent 60fps.

Xbox Series S Technical Specifications

For those playing on the more compact Xbox Series S, the modes are optimized for lower resolutions to ensure stability:

  • Quality Mode: Delivers a 1440p output at 30fps.
  • Performance Mode: Targets 1080p resolution at 60fps.

On the Series S, both modes will utilize dynamic resolution scaling to prevent framerate drops during intense racing sequences.

Radio Stations, Accessibility, and Legacy Rewards

Beyond the technical performance breakdown, Playground Games shared a wealth of information regarding the game's atmosphere and player rewards. The upcoming title will feature nine radio stations, boasting the largest soundtrack in the history of the Horizon franchise.

The developers also confirmed details regarding loyalty reward cars for long-term fans of the series. If your Xbox GamerTag has played previous entries in the Forza Horizon series or 2021’s Forza Motorsport, you will receive specific cover cars as a gift. These rewards become available once you complete the "Tokyo City" introductory race with Mei.

The list of available legacy cars includes:

  • All previous Forza Horizon cover cars (from FH1 through FH5).
  • The Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray (the 2021 Forza Motorsport cover car).

Notably, there is one change to the historical lineup. While the 2018 McLaren Senna served as the cover car for Forza Horizon 4, it has been replaced by the 2016 Aston Martin Vulcan in this reward tier. While the reason for the Senna's absence remains unconfirmed, automotive licensing hurdles are a common occurrence in racing titles.
