To progress through the early access narrative, you must learn how to repair the Power Plant and enter the Observatory in Subnautica 2. This massive story objective serves as the culmination of your journey through the alien ocean, requiring significant resources and specific technological upgrades. Once completed, entering the tower near the Alien Ruins provides a major narrative conclusion that teases upcoming content.

Step 1: Clearing the Angel Comb and Axum Vision

Before you can tackle the power structure, you must clear the path leading to it. Your first priority is navigating the Angel Comb located in the Alien Ruins (east of the Research Base via the large purple tube).

To successfully clear this area, keep the following requirements in mind:

  • Tadpole Depth Module: You cannot attempt this sequence without this specific upgrade.
  • Feedback Resonator: This must be unlocked for your Sonic Resonator to destroy viral blooms from a distance.
  • Axum Vision Adaptation: Once the comb is cleared, acquire this adaptation to proceed.

After clearing the flowers, head into the alien control room built into the crater wall overlooking the Angel Comb. Interact with the central console by the window to complete the first stage of the repair process.

Step 2: Repairing the Alien Turbine

The next phase requires you to physically reach the giant Alien Turbine situated directly above the Angel Comb. Drive your submersible upward to the circular structure and move toward the eastern circumference. Look for blue lights and colony crates near a broken turbine that can be scanned.

Scanning the component reveals that the machine was sabotaged, requiring a massive amount of materials to fix. To repair the turbine, you will need:

  • 10x Titanium Ingots
  • 10x Mangalloy Ingots
  • 10x Strontium

To craft these ingots via the Processor, ensure you have gathered 60x Titanium, 20x Celestine, 10x Atacamite, and 10x Troilite. Because Troilite is scarce, we recommend using a Metal Farm to generate it.

Once your materials are ready, use the Tadpole Haul Chassis or clear 30 inventory slots to transport them to the turbine. Use your Habitat Builder to construct the part, then return to the control room. Interact with every dial and slider until they turn green, then activate the central console to restart the plant.

How to enter the Observatory in Subnautica 2

With the power restored, the main door to the Observatory—the tower adjacent to the Alien Ruins Research Base—will finally unlock. To gain entry, navigate your submersible around the western circumference of the tower (the side opposite the Alien Ruins). You will find a door and a lever that allows you to step inside.

Completing this sequence marks the end of the current story content available in the early access version of the game.
