New details regarding Resident Evil Requiem's new minigame have begun to emerge, revealing a mode that leans heavily into high-octane action. However, there is a specific catch for players looking to jump straight into the fray: Capcom has stated that you must first complete the main campaign to access this content.

Unlocking Resident Evil Requiem's New Minigame

Producer Masato Kumazawa has confirmed that the additional mode will only be available after the story is completed for the first time. For players planning to grab the title purely for the action segments, it may be wise to start working through the main campaign as soon as possible.

Game director Koshi Nakanishi shared further insights regarding the mode's design during an interview with the Japanese site Denfaminicogamer. He noted that the experience is built directly upon the combat encounters found within the primary story.

"It's a minigame, and it's based on the battles in the main game," Nakanishi said. "For those who have cleared the main story and are thinking, 'I still haven't had enough fun', I think you'll be able to enjoy this and go 'Whoa!', so sharpen your tomahawk and wait."

A Dual Approach to Gameplay

The core experience of Requiem is defined by its two-protagonist structure, which balances different survival horror sub-genres. The gameplay split between the following characters:

  • Grace Ashcroft: Her missions emphasize traditional survival-horror elements, focusing on stealth and cunning.
  • Leon S. Kennedy: His segments utilize a survival-action style that draws inspiration from recent hits like the Resident Evil 4 remake.

While Leon's sections are relatively brief during the first few hours of the game, his presence grows significantly as the narrative progresses. Once the veteran agent returns to Raccoon City, his action-heavy gameplay dominates the second half of the experience. This shift in pacing makes mastering the campaign essential for anyone looking forward to enjoying Resident Evil Requiem's new minigame.
