Sony Pictures at CinemaCon 2026: Everything Revealed About Spider-Man, Bloodborne, and More
Sony Pictures delivered a powerhouse lineup at CinemaCon 2026, unveiling a slate of highly anticipated sequels and bold new concepts. The presentation featured major updates on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the conclusion to Miles Morales' saga in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, and a shocking announcement for an R-rated animated adaptation of Bloodborne.
From the chaotic return of Peter Parker to the expansion of the Jumanji game into the real world, this year’s event was packed with reveals. We have compiled every crucial detail from the presentation so you don't miss a beat.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Returns with Identity Crisis and New Threats
The first major reveal of Sony Pictures Entertainment's CinemaCon presentation focused on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, featuring two new posters and an exclusive clip. Set after the events of No Way Home where Peter Parker’s identity was erased from everyone’s memory, the footage explores his struggle to reconnect with old friends while hiding in plain sight.
The clip opens in a coffee shop where Peter listens as Ned places an order over the phone. When Ned leaves for a party and returns with drinks, Peter follows him inside, awkwardly trying to blend in at a crowded gathering. He ends up in Ned’s room, discovering a shrine dedicated to Spider-Man on the wall, complete with articles and action figures.
It is revealed that Ned knows exactly who Spider-Man is because he has been saved by the hero multiple times during high school. However, Ned doesn't want to expose Peter's identity to the public; instead, he created an app called "Spider-Tracker" simply to thank his savior. He narrows down his suspects to Flash Thompson and Martin Starr’s character, Roger Harrington.
When MJ enters, complaining about the party's crowding, she spots Peter holding flowers he bought for her. Introducing himself as "Maynard," Peter attempts a cover-up that leaves Ned confused until MJ quips, "Friendly neighbor!" The duo then discusses a job offer MJ declined from a soulless corporation, noting that something tells her to wait for something great.
Her boyfriend, played by Eman Esfandi (known for Ahsoka and as Ezra Bridger), enters with a bold declaration: "The wait is over! You can't save everyone." MJ counters with her iconic resilience, saying, "I can try," before sharing a kiss that visibly bothers Peter.
Following this emotional beat, the clip transitions into a high-octane sizzle reel showing Spidey leaping from buildings and confronting Damage Control agents pointing guns at him. Peter declares he is "not in High School anymore" as he flips and swings through the air, taking down the armed operatives with ease.
Sony Pictures also took the stage to highlight that Spider-Man: No Way Home remains their biggest movie ever. They reminded the audience that the first trailer for Brand New Day broke records as the single most-watched trailer in history, surpassing one billion views in under a week. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 31, 2026.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse and the Shocking Bloodborne Announcement
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse made waves at CinemaCon with an extended look at early, unfinished footage described as "the final chapter of Miles' story." The sequence begins with a helicopter overhead while Miles declares, "there's no Spider-Man here," leading into the aftermath where he is knocked out by his alternate self or Prowler.
Upon waking, Miles (referred to as Miles 1) argues that they must let him go because he is Miles Morales. An alternate version of Miles (Miles 2) retorts, "Morales? You can't even say it right," sparking a debate over the proper pronunciation of their shared last name.
The dialogue quickly escalates as Miles 1 warns his counterpart and Uncle Aaron that his father will die in two days if canon events are not followed. Both Miles 2 and Aaron dismiss this warning as ridiculous, prompting Miles 1 to glitch again as he is taunted for being "mouthy." He responds with a classic Spider-Man line: "Don't watch the mouth. Watch the hands," before using his powers to blast free from his restraints.
The montage continues with Gwen waking up, Miles fighting himself, and Peter B. Parker handing baby May over to Spider-Ham, who agrees to watch her despite being out of milk. The footage also teases the return of Kingpin, glimpses of The Spot and Spider-Man 2099, and a poignant moment where Rio tells Miles, "I asked you to be tough. You're not tough, you're strong."
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is set for release in theaters on June 18, 2027.
One of the biggest surprises of the night, however, was the announcement of an R-rated animated film based on the dark action-RPG Bloodborne. The project will be produced by popular content creator Jacksepticeye and received a massive cheer from the CinemaCon audience.
Jumanji: Open World Blurs Lines Between Game and Reality
Jumanji: Open World has been officially confirmed as the sequel to 2019's The Next Level, with new footage showing how the game's chaos is spilling into the real world. The clip features Lamorne Morris' character, a repairman fixing an old video game console while animals run loose in the background.
Danny DeVito’s Eddie calls all the kids to a restaurant, revealing that Dwayne Johnson's Bravestone and the rest of the group are currently out of the game. However, they still speak with a Spanish accent because they have been trapped in a Spanish demo mode of the game. Jack Black's character, Oberon, ominously notes, "I'm beginning to suspect we're not in Jumanji."
The video game characters appear as clumsy figures running through the real world, creating hilarious and chaotic scenes. The footage hints at further complications as the team tries to navigate a reality where their virtual avatars have taken over physical spaces. Jumanji: Open World is scheduled for release on December 25, 2026.
