After nearly a decade of waiting, Nintendo’s legendary space combat franchise is officially returning to the spotlight. Star Fox is finally making its highly anticipated comeback on the next generation of hardware, and fans can finally secure their copies today.

A modern remake of the classic N64 title Star Fox 64, this new release is set to launch on June 25 for the Switch 2. Whether you prefer a tangible collection for your shelf or a quick digital download, both versions are available for preorder now.

Star Fox Physical and Digital Editions

Nintendo is offering two distinct ways to experience this Lylat System adventure. For collectors, the physical edition provides the complete game on a dedicated cartridge, while the digital version offers a more budget-friendly alternative.

  • Star Fox (Physical Edition): $60 | Releasing June 25
    • Available at Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop.
  • Star Fox (Digital Edition): $50 | Releasing June 25
    • Available via Amazon download code.

A Modernized Lylat System Experience

Players will step back into the cockpit of an Arwing fighter jet, joined once again by iconic allies including Falco, Slippy, and Peppy. This remake promises a massive visual overhaul, bringing much-needed polish to the classic rail shooter gameplay.

Beyond the updated graphics, Nintendo has packed the release with several high-end features designed specifically for the Switch 2:

  • New Cinematic Cutscenes: Enhanced storytelling for a more immersive experience.
  • Expanded Game Modes: Including a new Battle Mode for head-to-head combat against Star Wolf pilots.
  • Switch 2-Specific Controls: The inclusion of added mouse controls for precision.
  • Local Co-op Enhancements: A second player can now occupy the Arwing gunner seat while you focus on piloting.
  • Additional Content: New challenge modes and support for GameShare.

While Star Fox Zero reimagined this classic for the Wii U back in 2016, this new iteration aims to leverage the power of the next generation to deliver a definitive version of the franchise.

This launch is just one piece of Nintendo's upcoming release calendar. Fans can also look forward to Yoshi and the Mysterious Book on May 21, followed by Splatoon Raiders on July 23.
