The Target x Pokémon 30th Anniversary Collection has officially arrived online. Announced back in April, this massive collaboration celebrates three decades of the franchise with over 75 Target-exclusive items at surprisingly affordable prices.

Most of the collection draws inspiration from the late '90s and early 2000s, featuring nostalgic collaborations with brands like Lip Smacker and NatureWell. However, collectors should note that the release is a mix of in-store and online exclusives, making it quite an ambitious feat to collect every piece.

What’s Included in the Target x Pokémon 30th Anniversary Collection Online?

Apparel makes up the majority of the current online stock. You can find a full line of T-shirts inspired by iconic classics, including Gengar, Eevee, Charizard, and Jigglypuff. Most of the apparel is available in both adult and children's sizes, with prices ranging from roughly $15 to $40.

To lean into that retro aesthetic, the online drop also includes Pokémon-themed detangling brushes and a full line of Lip Smackers. For fans of vinyl figures, there is also a great looking Charizard Funko Pop! available to grab.

In-Store Exclusives and Upcoming Waves

Not everything in the collection can be found on your computer screen. A significant portion of the lineup is only available in physical stores, so you will need to check your local Target for stock on items like sticker sheets, water bottles, and a Kanto-themed jacket. You should also keep an eye out for Pokémon-themed food items, such as Pop-Tarts, which are likely in-person finds.

If you miss the first drop, there is more to come. Some items, such as cute training caps and Poké-kickballs, are scheduled to arrive as part of a second wave launching on June 6.

Key Release Dates:

  • May 2: Wave 1 available in stores
  • May 3: Wave 1 available online (starting 8am CT)
  • June 6: Wave 2 arrives both online and in stores

A Massive Year for the Pokémon Franchise

The Target x Pokémon 30th Anniversary Collection is just one part of a much larger celebration. We have already seen the re-release of Fire Red and Leaf Green on Switch, alongside generous new events in Pokémon Go. We even recently caught our first look at the next mainline generation, Winds and Waves.

The Pokémon Company has also been aggressive with its merchandising lately. Recent highlights include:

  • The first-ever Pokémon LEGO sets, featuring full builds for Pikachu and Eevee.
  • A specialized spread of Pokémon-themed Puma sneakers.
  • A new line of Pokémon-themed Goldfish dropping next week.

Does the most profitable media franchise of all time deserve the hype? It certainly seems so. It is impressive to see The Pokémon Company embracing collaborations across so many different price points—just try not to think about the current trading card situation.
