The Last of Us Adds Sinners Star Li Jun Li to Season 3 Cast

HBO has officially expanded the ensemble for its upcoming third season, with Li Jun Li reportedly joining the cast of The Last of Us. According to reports from Variety, the Sinners star is set to portray Miriam, a character who will serve as the mother to the Seraphite siblings Lev and Yara.

While Lev and Yara are pivotal figures in Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II, Miriam represents a new addition to the television adaptation. It remains to be seen how much screen time this new character will receive as the series progresses through its third season.

New Cast Additions for The Last of Us Season 3

Li Jun Li is no stranger to high-profile projects. While many fans know her from Ryan Coogler’s 2025 vampire horror film Sinners, she has built an extensive resume over the last decade. Her previous work includes:

  • Television: The Following and Fox's The Exorcist.
  • Film: Ricki and the Flash and Babylon.
  • Upcoming Projects: The role of Cat Hardy in Spider-Noir.

Li joins a growing list of newcomers confirmed for the third installment. Recent casting updates have introduced several new faces to the post-apocalyptic world:

  • Jorge Lendeborg Jr. as Manny
  • Patrick Wilson as Jerry
  • Jason Ritter as Hanley

Expanding the Story Beyond Ellie

The casting of Lev and Yara was finalized just last month, with Michelle Mao (Bridgerton) stepping into the role of Yara and Star Wars veteran Kyriana Kratter playing Lev.

Following the narrative shift in Season 2, which focuses on Bella Ramsey's Ellie, The Last of Us Season 3 is expected to center heavily on Kaitlyn Dever’s portrayal of Abby. Given how closely the show tracks its source material, viewers can likely expect a significant storyline involving Abby's alliance with Yara and Lev.

As of now, HBO has not announced an official release date for The Last of Us Season 3, but the addition of such heavy-hitting talent suggests the series is gearing up for a massive conclusion.
