Hasbro and Disney Consumer Products have officially unveiled Ultimate Grogu, a $599 first-of-its-kind animatronic. This 1:1 scale recreation is designed to feel as though the beloved Star Wars character has stepped directly from the screen into your home. During an early preview, it became clear that this isn't just a toy; it feels like sharing a room with one of the stars of The Mandalorian.

Pre-order Information and Available Editions

Pre-orders for Ultimate Grogu begin today, April 30, at 10am PT/1pm ET. Fans can secure their piece of the galaxy through Hasbro Pulse (First Edition and Standard), Amazon, and Fan Channel retailers.

There are two distinct versions available for collectors:

  • First Edition: Includes an exclusive packaging sleeve and a limited-edition collector card, with shipping expected by the end of 2026.
  • Standard Edition: Features standard packaging and is scheduled to ship in early 2027.

Both editions are priced identically and feature the exact same high-quality animatronic.

Unprecedented Realism and Technology

Hasbro describes this as the most life-like, interactive, and expressive version of the character ever built. To achieve this, the team worked closely with the real puppets used in The Mandalorian. By visiting director Jon Favreau and the film set, they ensured every detail was captured perfectly.

"It's amazing because you know it's a puppet, but then you see what they're doing and the amazing artistry on display behind it, and it just becomes Grogu," said Chris Gollaher, Director of Product Design at Disney Consumer Products. "It is about bringing the character to.to life, and we knew that's what we wanted to do."

The technical specs are equally impressive. This single model integrates:

  • Over 250 animations and sounds
  • 14 sensors and four motors
  • Directional audio sensing
  • Beskar armor and a cute little satchel
  • A Force-sensitive cookie

The interaction with the cookie is particularly breathtaking. Grogu can sense when it is nearby, becoming visibly excited. If you double-tap his head while holding the cookie in front of him, he will use the Force to bring it closer. The cookie even vibrates and shakes as he reaches for it. He can also recognize when food is placed in his hand, performing chewing motions or even letting out a cute burp if he eats too much.

Advanced Sensory Features and Play Modes

The realism extends to how the character reacts to his environment. He may react to sudden loud noises with a jump, or respond to nurturing gestures with more "nuzzly" behavior. He even features a Grav Charge Detonator interaction, where he may "toddle" away in fear or find the courage to use the Force to disarm it.

The build quality focuses on a "character forward" approach rather than just tech. For the first time, Hasbro has made his entire body and head soft to increase realism. The 14.6-inch, 9lb figure features ears that allow light to pass through and subtle eyelid motions. When you pick him up, the weight of his body shifts from side-to-side to simulate a real infant.

Collectors can utilize three distinct modes:

  1. Explore Mode: Grogu wanders his immediate surroundings and responds to sound and play.
  2. Display Mode: Perfect for shelves, allowing you to cycle animations without him walking off a ledge.
  3. Grab & Go Mode: The ideal choice for cosplayers at events like Star Wars Celebration, keeping the character controlled while portable.

The unit can be powered via USB-C or 4x D-cell batteries, ensuring your companion is always ready for adventure.
