VisionQuest Release Date Confirmed: The WandaVision Trilogy Ends on October 14

Marvel Studios has officially set the stage for the final chapter of the WandaVision saga. Paul Bettany’s upcoming series, VisionQuest, is confirmed to launch on October 14 this year, concluding the trilogy that began with the hit Disney+ show.

The date was revealed by Bettany during Disney’s recent upfront presentation, a moment that also provided a launch window for Ahsoka Season 2. While the release date is locked in, the plot details remain somewhat shrouded in mystery, though the cast list and lingering threads from previous Marvel series offer significant clues about what lies ahead for the synthezoid hero.

The Fate of the Synthezoid

To understand the stakes of VisionQuest, one must look back at the events of Avengers: Infinity War, where Vision was killed by Thanos. He was subsequently revived by his beloved Wanda Maximoff in WandaVision. However, the story did not end with a simple happy reunion.

This new iteration of Vision was last seen flying off into the sunset—or rather, departing for his own Disney+ spinoff. No further details regarding his location or status were provided in Agatha All Along, the first spinoff series. That series introduced a grown-up version of Billy Maximoff, played by Joe Locke, who was last seen heading off to find his family.

Given that Vision is Billy’s father—albeit under complicated and messy circumstances—it is highly probable that the young hero will play a pivotal role in VisionQuest as he seeks to reconnect with his parent.

A Cast of Villains and AI Icons

While the exact plot remains under wraps, the confirmed cast list suggests a high-concept adventure involving both classic villains and unexpected tech allies.

  • James Spader returns as Ultron, the robotic supervillain originally seen in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Ultron is the creator of Vision, a process aided by Tony Stark’s hubris.
  • Todd Stashwick plays Paladin, a bounty hunter tasked with locating Vision.
  • Diane Morgan appears as Paladin’s accomplice, adding to the hunt for the synthezoid.
  • Faran Tahir returns as Raza, the leader of the Ten Rings, a role he originally portrayed in the 2008 film Iron Man.

In a particularly intriguing twist, the series will feature the return of numerous Marvel Cinematic Universe AI characters. Previously heard only via voiceovers, these entities will now have a tangible presence, including:

  • Edith (Even Dead, I’m the Hero)
  • Friday
  • Jarvis, portrayed once again by James D'Arcy, who previously appeared in the Agent Carter TV series.
  • DUM-E, Tony Stark’s notorious robot assistant, who is reportedly back "somehow."

The End of an Era for New Marvel Series

The confirmation of VisionQuest marks a significant milestone for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With this series set to conclude the WandaVision trilogy, it also highlights a shift in Marvel’s content strategy. Marvel currently has no other new live-action series in development beyond fresh seasons of Daredevil: Born Again and Wonder Man.

As fans await the October premiere, the question remains: how will Vision’s journey tie together the legacy of Ultron, the return of his sons, and the swarm of AI icons? Only time will tell when VisionQuest debuts on Disney+.
