Witcher Dev’s Mysterious New Game With Saudi Arabia’s Scopely Is Not Releasing Soon

CD Projekt Red, the renowned developer behind The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, is currently working on a new mobile game in collaboration with Scopely, a mobile game company owned by Saudi Arabia's Savvy Games. However, according to recent statements from CD Projekt, the game is not expected to release anytime soon.

During CD Projekt's latest earnings briefing, joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski was questioned about the progress of the mysterious project, which is based on one of the company's existing franchises. Nowakowski confirmed that the game is "definitely not" coming out in 2026. He explained that the development process involves continuous iteration, which often takes time to achieve the desired level of quality and satisfaction from both teams involved.

"We've been previously suggesting that this would take some time. Scopely and their team are very iterative, and they work very fast and very hard, but it’s more about iteration and reaching a certain level of satisfaction that is felt on both sides—them and us—so things are happening, but, once again, it’s definitely not a story for 2026."

The partnership between CD Projekt and Scopely was first announced in March 2025. At the time, the company mentioned that the game would be based on one of its franchises. This follows a previous statement from CD Projekt in 2024, when it considered the possibility of creating mobile versions of The Witcher or Cyberpunk.

Scopely has made a name for itself in the mobile gaming industry, and its acquisition by Savvy Games in 2023 for $4.9 billion solidified its position as a major player in the space. The company is best known for Monopoly Go, which has been a massive success, and it also now owns Pokémon Go.

CD Projekt has had previous experience with mobile gaming, including the release of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game on mobile platforms. However, support for the game ended in October 2023. Another attempt at a mobile Witcher title, The Witcher: Monster Slayer, launched in July 2021 but was shut down in 2023 after nearly two years of operation.

The Future of CD Projekt’s Mobile Gaming Ambitions

While CD Projekt has not yet revealed specifics about the new mobile game, the company's history with mobile ports and its current collaboration with Scopely indicate a continued interest in expanding its reach beyond traditional gaming platforms. However, with Nowakowski's recent comments, it's clear that fans shouldn't expect a release anytime soon.

The development of mobile games is often a long and iterative process, and CD Projekt is likely taking its time to ensure the project meets the high standards associated with its franchises. With Scopely's involvement, the game is expected to be polished and well-designed, but patience will be required from the community.

As the mobile gaming market continues to grow, CD Projekt’s collaboration with Scopely may position the company to take advantage of new opportunities. However, with the current timeline, the game is not expected to see the light of day in 2026 or even the near future.
