Digital Bros. has officially acquired the intellectual property rights for Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. The Italian company purchased the IP from developer Chengdu Lingze Technology Co. Ltd for approximately $4.6 million.
This deal grants Digital Bros. full ownership of the soulslike action RPG, including all future royalties. By securing these rights, the company can now protect and expand the game's universe through various media formats, such as books or TV shows.
The Financial Success of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
The acquisition comes on the heels of massive commercial success for the title. Digital Bros. noted that Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has demonstrated "strong commercial traction" since its release last year.
The game has already achieved several impressive milestones:
- Sold over 1 million units since July 2025.
- Generated more than $35.1 million in revenue.
Digital Bros. believes this ownership will enhance the Group's ability to make timely decisions regarding future development and related investments. This move is a key part of their strategy to expand their market share of fully-owned game franchises.
505 Games and the Digital Bros. Portfolio
While Digital Bros. might be less known to the average gamer, its subsidiary, 505 Games, is a major player in the industry. The publisher has been responsible for distributing or publishing several massive titles, including:
- Terraria
- Dead by Daylight
- Death Stranding (PC and Xbox versions)
The company previously held the IP rights to Control, though they sold those rights back to developer Remedy Entertainment in 2024.
With an 8/10 review score from IGN, the future of the franchise looks bright. This acquisition should provide the stability needed to shore up the series for both the short and medium term.
