Microsoft's decision to expand its reach beyond the Xbox ecosystem is paying off in a massive way. According to a new report from Alinea Analytics, Xbox games on PlayStation have generated more than $650 million in gross revenue so far.
This financial windfall arrives at a pivotal moment for the company. New Xbox CEO Asha Sharma and Chief Content Officer Matt Booty have recently indicated that leadership is considering potential changes to Microsoft's controversial multiplatform strategy.
The Revenue Breakdown of Xbox Games on PlayStation
The reported earnings highlight how much certain high-profile titles can thrive outside of the Microsoft ecosystem. Leading the pack is Forza Horizon 5, which launched on PS5 in 2025 and brought in a staggering $323 million in gross revenue after selling over 5.8 million copies.
Other major contributors to this revenue stream include:
- Sea of Thieves: Ranked second with 2.7 million units sold, generating roughly $100 million.
- Oblivion Remastered: Secured the third spot, earning $58 million from 1.2 million copies sold.
Performance Trends and Market Context
While those were the only three titles to clear the 1 million sales milestone on Sony's hardware, other Xbox games on PlayStation are still seeing significant traction. Grounded currently sits at number four, with 770,000 copies sold and $24 million in revenue.
It is important to note that the Alinea Analytics report excludes any data regarding Call of Duty. Those massive franchises are now under Microsoft's control following the company's completed buyout of Activision Blizzard.
