Xbox Showcase Will Feature Competing Platforms, But Don't Expect Any Helix News
Microsoft has confirmed that its upcoming 2026 Xbox Showcase will continue the tradition of showcasing games coming to competing platforms, but fans shouldn't expect any updates on the next-gen Helix console. Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty revealed this during an interview on the Official Xbox Podcast. He emphasized that the company will be transparent about which platforms its games are launching on, which means players might see PlayStation or Nintendo logos during the event.
"We'll be very clear about what platforms a game is coming to and want to continue the precedent," Booty said. "I think we've got a good system going, where we make it clear in Showcase."
Although Microsoft has shown a renewed interest in returning to Xbox exclusive titles, its multiplatform strategy has remained in place for years. Titles like Fable and Halo: Campaign Evolved are expected to launch on PlayStation 5 and other platforms. The Showcase will be a chance for the company to reaffirm its commitment to this approach.
The Helix Console Remains a Mystery
As for the Helix console, Microsoft has chosen to keep details under wraps. Instead of revealing strategic plans, the June event will focus on the games themselves. Booty said the company wants to avoid discussing broader strategies in public.
"We really want to focus on the teams and on the games, and this is not going to be a place where we're going to talk strategy, broadly," he said. "There are certainly some strategic things that are out there and things we want to bring clarity to, but the focus here is on the games. For the long term, we want to make the right decisions, not fast decisions."
Booty also confirmed that there will be no Helix news at the Showcase. "I can also say that there won't be Helix news, so Helix will not be in this Showcase. Again, we want to get everything about that right."
Microsoft first announced the development of a new gaming console in June 2025. The console was later given the codename Helix in March of this year. However, the company has not revealed much beyond the fact that the device will be able to play both Xbox and PC games. More details are expected later this year.
