Despite its name, this mission has nothing to do with the new seaside environments; instead, it dives deep into the ongoing narrative surrounding Stella Montis and the transport of Exodus materials through Buried City.
Completing this quest requires you to track down four specific locations hidden across the map. Because these spots aren't always obvious, following a precise path is essential to avoid wasting time searching the wasteland.
Step-by-Step Guide for Line in the Sand
To successfully finish the mission, follow these movement steps through Buried City:
- The Derailed Train: Locate the blue derailed train cars situated between Warehouse and Piazza Roma near the center of Buried City. They are also found south of Marano Station along the tracks. Simply walk up to the cars protruding from the sand to trigger the quest update; no direct interaction is required.
- The Square Tower: From the trains, head east toward a small square tower on the hill, positioned next to the wall perpendicular to Warehouse and Piazza Roma. Climb the railing and interact with the detonator hidden by a bush in the southwest corner. This grants you the Marano Market Business Card.
- The Market Ruins: Travel north from the tower, passing both the Library and Hospital, until you reach the Market Ruins in the northeast corner of the map. Locate the ruined building to progress the quest step automatically.
- Dune's End Basement: From the ruins, head east up the hill toward Dune's End. Enter the building, go through the door ahead of you, and take the zipline down into the basement.
Finding the Final Clue
Once you reach the basement at Dune's End, your final task is straightforward but requires attention to detail. Look for a pile of cardboard boxes tucked away in the room. You must photograph these boxes to officially complete the Line in the Sand quest and wrap up this chapter of the story.
