Ubisoft has moved to reassure fans following the recent reveal of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. During the game's massive livestream premiere, numerous viewers noted a distinct lack of blood during combat sequences, leading to concerns that the action had been sanitized for the broadcast.
Justin Ng Addresses Blood Removal in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced
In response to the backlash, producer Justin Ng took to social media to clarify the situation. Writing on X/Twitter, Ng confirmed that the gameplay shown during the reveal was intentionally "toned down."
"A few things to quickly address I guess (without getting into trouble hopefully)," Ng wrote. "There WILL be blood in the final game, and it will not be a paid DLC. We hear the feedback on the VFX and audio cues on fight. It's being toned down."
This lack of gore is reminiscent of recent Nintendo livestreams featuring Resident Evil Requiem, where blood was omitted to ensure the broadcast remained suitable for a wide audience. However, Ubisoft typically includes a toggle to turn off blood in titles like Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Valhalla, and Shadows. It appears this setting was simply active during the Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced showcase.
Gameplay Mechanics and Content Expectations
Beyond the visual effects, fans have been questioning the depth of content in the remake. When asked if the original's iconic social stealth mechanics—such as blending into crowds or hiring dancers to distract enemies—would be maintained, Ng replied: "It's still there #Faithful."
While much of the news is positive, some players have expressed disappointment regarding certain elements:
- Freedom Cry DLC: There are currently no indications that this popular expansion will be integrated into the remake or sold separately.
- Animation Reuse: Reddit users pointed out the use of specific animations from Assassin's Creed Unity (such as a neck pull and sword stab) and moves from Assassin's Creed Mirage.
- Cutscenes: On a positive note, the original game's performances and motion capture appear to be preserved.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is scheduled to launch on July 9. The standard edition will be priced at $59.99, while a Collector's Edition will be available for $200.
