Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 star Charlie Cox has officially weighed in on the possibility of a live-action film adaptation. While expressing excitement for the project, Cox shared a very specific—and humorous—vision for the casting process.

In the acclaimed title, Cox provides the voice for the hero, Gustave. However, he does not provide the character's performance capture or facial likeness, which many players note looks remarkably like actor Robert Pattimo. This resemblance has led Cox to downplay his physical involvement in the game despite receiving widespread praise for his vocal work.
Cox’s Hilarious Casting Suggestion
Speaking at the BAFTA Games Awards 2026, Cox proposed a solution that would bridge the gap between the game and a potential film. He suggested that Pattinson should play the role live-action, while Cox returns to provide the voice.
"My involvement with this, as minuscule as it was originally and how it's now expanded so much, has been nothing but an incredibly humbling and enjoyable experience," Cox told GamesRadar+. "So, yeah, absolutely, yeah. I was thinking that they should probably – if they make the movie – they should get Robert Pattinson to play the part, and I should do the voice. Because then they would have pretty much the exact Gustave from the game."
Sandfall Interactive and Award-Winning Success
While many fans believe Gustave's design was modeled after Pattinson, developer Sandfall Interactive has debunked this theory. The studio maintains that the character is actually based on one of their own employees, simply with a handsome mustache added to the design.
